Wow, this was really good Indian food I tried here today. And it is about a five minute walk from my condo, so that makes me pretty happy! I was the only customer in this small restaurant. There is outdoor seating, but I preferred to sit inside. The waiter promptly slid the front door shut and turned on the AC for me. He was very friendly and attentive during my visit. I had an old standby….butter chicken, garlic naan, and basmati rice. It’s my way to first gauge the quality of an Indian restaurant for my tastes. It arrived at my table in record time. Sheesh, I think it was within ten minutes. I also got an order of those cracker things with chilled sauces. The mint sauce was a little too salty for my taste, so I only had one cracker. The butter chicken was very flavorful and thick and hearty. Plenty of chicken to be had. The garlic naan was also flavorful, with the garlic being very present in the taste. The rice was served in a clay pot and that was cool. A lid was on it, so the rice stayed hot for my entire meal. The waiter checked up on my halfway through the meal and asked me how everything was. That was a nice touch. Rarely happens here in Thailand. He also asked me how everything was as I paid my bill. Nice touch again. Three stars for atmosphere because it was a very basic, small barebones dining room and the chaos back in the kitchen was very loud out...
Read moreHad dinner here with my wife tonight. Food was good but very poor service from the staff. No engagement at all other than to take the order. After the food came (starter course came with the main meal) which was annoying. But the main issue was we were totally ignored after that. I had to flag down a member of staff for another drink and to get the bill. There were two other tables in the restaurant, both large Indian families with four young kids who where very noisy and totally out of control. I mean screaming and shouting and running around. These customers were getting really good attention from the restaurant staff. Please don't read this as a racist comment. It is not. My wife is Indian and I have no issues Indian people or any other race. I just want to make the point that the atmosphere was super noisy and out of control and we received no attention whatsoever from the restaurant staff. This is not typical of any other meal I have had in Thailand and over the past two years I have spent a total of 14 week in different locations in Thailand. This restaurant needs to look more closely at customer service. Customer attention is important and a few words with guests and even a smile makes a big difference on the overall...
Read moreNice location next to Dusit D2 just off Phetkasem Rd, plenty of parking spaces.
Restaurant decor is basic at best, hot inside but proprietor happily switched in the AC and fans to make dining comfortable. Even with the doors closed there was a horrendous smell of cigarette smoke infiltrating the dining area. The smoke I assumed was coming from the terrace or neighbouring establishments, not good.
Service was polite and attentive when required.
The best part waits till last. Short concise menu but the food was fabulous. I can understand being slated or under adventurous for choosing Butter Chicken however it was a standard above, excellent flavour. Onion Bhaji's were tasty despite looking paltry. Vegetable Biriyani again fabulous and a very good and slightly different Prawn Curry. Spice levels were ideal for my milder pallete. Naan bread was a little crusty and tough but chewy and tasty too.
Fabulous food at regular Indian restaurant prices. Very cold Leo beer. I expect to...
