Nice little addition to the Hua Hin steakhouse scene. I love to go into a steakhouse and see a refrigerated case with all of the different steaks and prices on display. The gentleman who greeted and seated us took me over to the case and pointed out the cuts and countries of origin. Lots of steak from Thailand represented. I had the Thai Wagyu oyster blade cut of beef. I had read about this particular cut of beef, but had never had it. My girlfriend ordered lamb chops. Both ordered medium rare. We also ordered lobster bisque and a crab & avocado salad with spicy mayo and caviar. The first minor hiccup was that the restaurant had no ice for our lemon sodas. An employee had to actually go somewhere to buy ice and it took more than a few minutes. Maybe I was a little more cranky than usual about it, but I was parched when I arrived and I need my drinks ice cold. The only other hiccup was that both our meat orders arrived rare. I didn’t mind too much and just ate it. My girl had to send hers back for a refire. My steak was a little chewy. Lots of gristle and fat. That’s my usual experience with Thai beef. Wagyu factors did not seem to be represented. The flavor was very good though, as was the flavor of the lamb chops. The chops were quite tender. The stars of the show, strange to say, were the soup and salad. Big lumps of crab and creamy diced avocado under a dollop of mayo that actually tasted as if infused with truffle (no detectable heat) and a little bit of black caviar comprised the salad. The taste was heavenly! The soup was ‘almost’ as good as the salad. Saying that is not a negative in this case. Very creamy soup with little lumps of lobster or langoustine. Every drop was consumed and the bowl was cleaned with the complimentary garlic bread. The interior of the restaurant didn’t really strike me as fitting a steakhouse. It was very bare and almost…sterile, for lack of a better word. I wish it had been a bit warmer. The music was covers of crooners like Sinatra and Darin. Not my cup of tea, but apropos of the setting. Overall a very good experience. The staff were very friendly and always nearby when we needed something. We were given a complimentary scoop of blueberry ice cream swimming in a strawberry sauce at the conclusion of the meal. We will be back soon. Lots of menu to explore, but I doubt anything will top that salad.
Update on second visit: no change in stars but I want to give some advice for future diners. There is outdoor seating in front and some inside, of course. There are also three tables outside that run along the west side of the restaurant. We had to sit over there because every other table was reserved or occupied. The smoke from the grills blows right on you because they use big fans to bellow the coals. We actually rushed our dinner and skipped dessert because we...
Read moreThe food was really good, and the atmosphere was delightful. It’s one of my favorite places for beef steak in Hua Hin. However, I need to mention the service, i was so disappointed, which left much to be desired, especially considering the food’s cost.
The first time I ordered steak there, I asked the waitress if it came with a side dish. She said yes and asked me to choose, but she didn’t inform us that the side dish would incur an additional charge. So, we ordered, only to find out when the bill arrived that the side dish was charged separately. We learned from that experience.
Today, I went again, fully aware of the side dish charges. This time, I made sure to confirm several times with the waitress. I asked repeatedly if the steak came with a side dish and sauce. She told me that only two specific side dishes were free, and the sauce was complimentary. I double-checked to be sure and was reassured that there would be no extra charge for the sauce.
However, once again, they charged for the sauce. When I pointed it out to the waitress, she admitted she had forgotten and left it at that. My friends and I were absolutely disappointed with this kind of service—this happened twice now!
I’m not sure if this is a marketing strategy or just repeated mistakes.
but to the owner: please inform your staff to provide accurate information and clarify details for your customers. Your food is superb amazing, but the service and how customers are treated are truly...
Read moreWe stayed in dusitD2 Hua Hin hotel during our holiday, which was right next to Beef Town. Upon checking the great reviews on Google we were so excited and decided to save this special meal for our last night in Hua Hin.
The meal turned out to be a big disappointment and regret.
The beef selection was very limited, moreover two beef menu items out of stock. I saw a piece of 520g hanger streak in the steak fridge with a price label of 255THB and inquired about the price as it wasn’t on the menu. The staff went away and came back after 10 mins of internal deliberations and informed us that the 520g/255THB piece of beef would be sold to us as two 260g portions, each portion costing 690THB. So a 255THB steak sold for 1380THB. Even though the mark up is was so high, we bit the bullet and ordered it as the marbling looked good. Unfortunately a few things didn’t go well with the steak - 1) it was undercooked so we had to send it back 2) the beef taste was too strong that my wife refused to have a second bite, and 3) there was so much tendon that I couldn’t even cut through it.
The lobster bisque we ordered was so sweet and lack of lobster taste, it almost tasted like pumpkin soup.
The garlic mushroom side dish was so watery and bland.
Overall the restaurant was a let down for us, and definitely not worth a...
