Tucked close to Hua Hin’s old railway station, Krua Kannikar feels like a hidden gem with a vibe that’s equal parts cozy and quirky. The place has this open-air setup with wooden pavilions decked out in classic Thai style—think detailed wood carvings, terracotta knickknacks, and these cool wind chimes that clink softly in the breeze. What really catches your eye are the tables made from old Singer sewing machine bases, giving the whole spot a retro, almost nostalgic feel. Big shady trees keep things cool, and there’s a little fountain adding to the charm, though you might spot a stray cat or two wandering around (cute for some, maybe not for others). It’s like stepping into a slice of old-school Thailand, perfect for kicking back and soaking in the atmosphere.

Of all the dishes, the chicken wings is the highlight! Biting into one is like a flavor explosion—crisp on the outside, juicy inside, with a little kick that sneaks up on you. The Koson Special Fried Chicken (around 60 THB) is another hit, with a crunchy batter and tender meat that’s hard to beat.

Food was great. This place is all about the chicken. Deep fried chicken, green curry chicken, red curry chicken, stir fried chicken, minced chicken. You get the idea. Food can be paired with bundles of rice noodles instead of rice. Soaks up the curries pretty well. Lots of locals came to this joint. Didn't see many tourists at all. A handful of less than 5 including myself. Food came hot fast which was surprising given it was packed. Note : the place closes at 3.30pm & isn't open for dinner. Decor is typical traditional old school place. Lots of timber. Tables with sewing machine base as legs. Decorated with lanterns and many curious things. Cons ... well if you're looking for papaya salad or som tam, you're in for a disappointment. Same if you're looking for seafood or prawn tom yam. Limited menu, but great in what they serve. Which is why I put down as 4 stars instead of 5. & other note is there are LOADS of families with kids. I counted no less than 10 kids as I was walking out. So the din can be too...
