The interior and design of the restaurant were quite appealing, but unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. After placing our order for drinks and food, things took a turn for the worse.
One major issue was the lack of clarity in the menu regarding the volume of beverages, particularly in our case, beer. Nowhere was it specified whether the beer was served in bottles or on tap, nor was the volume indicated. Consequently, when we ordered a Hoegaarden, assuming it would be on tap as it often is in nearby establishments, we were surprised to receive a bottled 0.33-liter beer. We didn't even have the chance to request otherwise before it was opened, as we wouldn't have opted for bottled beer had we known.
When I inquired about this discrepancy with the waiter, asking why the menu didn't specify the volume and type of beer, his response was shockingly rude, insisting that it was my obligation to inquire about such details.
Additionally, our order of a rare ribeye steak and a burger fell short of expectations. The ribeye steak, priced at 1000 baht, was far from resembling a steak—it appeared more like a boiled piece of meat with grill marks and was not cooked to rare as requested. Overall, while the ambiance was pleasant, the inconsistencies in menu descriptions and disappointing food quality detracted significantly from the overall...
Read moreWe went to Groove Restrobar on a Wednesday night in October. The place itself is gorgeous — warm amber lighting, lush hanging greenery, and a sleek bar with a bit of a cocktail–lounge feel. The vibe is relaxed but upscale; surprisingly it was quiet, with only three other tables occupied.
Food:
Fish & Chips – crisp, light batter and fresh fish; one of the better versions we’ve had in Thailand.
Arancini – just okay; pleasant but nothing special.
Sea Bass Fillet – excellent, perfectly cooked and well seasoned.
Wagyu Skirt Steak – my wife loved it; tender and flavorful.
Seared Tuna – good quality fish, but could have used a slightly harder sear to bring out more flavor.
Drinks: My wife ordered a Pisco Sour that was impressively prepared tableside with a smoker — fun presentation and great taste.
Service: Staff were well presented, professional, and spoke very good English. Attentive but not intrusive.
Cost: About ฿4,000 for three people — pricey for Thailand but felt reasonable to us coming from abroad.
Overall: Stylish, comfortable setting, good service, and food that ranges from solid to excellent. A bit quiet midweek but recommended if you’re looking for a more polished dinner and...
Read moreDuring our recent trip to Phuket, we decided to try a well-known steakhouse—our second one on this visit. The ambiance was undoubtedly a highlight, with stylish decor that created a warm and upscale dining atmosphere. The bar was equally impressive, offering a great selection of well-crafted drinks that set the mood for the evening.
However, when it came to the food, it was rather underwhelming. While not terrible, it didn’t quite justify the premium pricing. For what we paid, we expected a more memorable dining experience in terms of flavor and quality.
Speaking of pricing, the bill came to around 5,900 baht, which felt appropriate for a high-end steakhouse—until we noticed an additional charge for using a Visa card. In 2025, it’s disappointing to see businesses still passing on payment processing fees to customers. It left a sour note at the end of the meal.
Overall, it’s a place with a nice atmosphere and good drinks, but the food is average and the pricing feels steep for what you get. Would I return? Probably not, especially with better options...
