Despite being excited after reading numerous positive reviews, our journey from town to the cat cafe ended up being disappointing. The initial impression was odd, as there were no signs guiding us to parking, so I chose a vacant spot nearby where other cars were also stationed. Regrettably, this led to an encounter with the owner’s frustration. Normally, I might have walked away at this point, but I managed to relocate my car and return.
My daughter has a deep affection for cats and treats animals kindly. With two cats at home, we’re well-versed in caring for them. However, our experience took a turn for the worse due to a lack of information. One of the cats named Cow turned out to be aggressive and averse to human interaction. Unfortunately, this detail wasn’t communicated to us, resulting in Cow biting and scratching my daughter when she attempted to pet her.
The owner’s demeanor came across as unwelcoming and uncommunicative. There was no acknowledgement or explanation provided. Cow’s unfriendly disposition was met with a peculiar look from the owner, who remarked, ‘Well, this one isn’t very sociable and prefers to keep her distance.’ Meanwhile, my daughter was in tears and understandably shaken after the incident.
While I understand that operating a cat cafe requires a love for animals, it’s equally important to exhibit warmth and consideration towards customers. Our intention was to support the business and enjoy the company of your cats. However, it’s disappointing that there was a failure to inform patrons about the temperament of certain cats. The absence of an apology further accentuates this shortcoming. Honestly, it’s not a bad place, the cats are really cute, just the wrong attitude chased your...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I travelled from North Patong to visit this cafe after seeing the great reviews. We were not disappointed. The two staff members running this place are doing everything to keep these cats healthy and happy. They both have good English and are happy to engage in conversation about the cats and you can tell they have a real love for cats. The cats love to interact, especially the two newer kittens who happen to be siblings. Every cat in the cafe swarmed us when we were given treats to feed them. They were delighted. The coffee and desserts are great. We loved the lava cake.
*As we were leaving the cafe, we noticed a basket full of kittens and a cat left on the doorstep. Someone had dumped them at the cafe while we were inside. The two owners were distraught and said this had never happened in the seven years of the cafe being open. We followed them back inside the cafe where they took the dumped cats out for inspection to make sure they were healthy. This is not a cat shelter and the two staff members should not have to deal with this. The staff are absolutely amazing.
We will visit again when in Thailand. Highly recommend and we hope the dumped...
Read moreWell, I though the ‘Cat Cafe’ concept was rescuing suffering cats off the street. Getting them fixed. Then putting them up for adoption as you get to know them at the cafe so there are always new cats - new saved cats. Every time I see suffering cats (been all over the island for five months) they are short-haired. This tiny town oddly has an abundance of “fancy cats” in shops. All fluffy. How about donating to fixing cats on the street vs selling resold toys?! Even if they have to go back to the street, at least they won’t keep breeding. What a waste of a business that could make a dent in the suffering cat crisis. I have nothing against the owner except how she responds to negative reviews. Child-like. Same goes for other cat cafe down the street. All “fancy” no street cats. In the USA cat cafe’s have a purpose - to save and get adopted. It’s not about making money off cats. I’ll put my money/time into buying food for the abandoned cats all around while sitting on a dirty ground...
