Boat Bar — Restaurant in Surat Thani Province

This is the fantastic Beach bar run by Americans. I usually go here in the afternoon for a bottle of beer and to chat with expats. The staff are very friendly and speak good English. This is also the place where the walk-on ferry leaves for Koh Phanang island. The Boat Bar is exactly what you'd expect from a tropical beach bar, especially since there is no floor, just sand. Everything is made of bamboo. They also have fantastic food here, and they have specials every day. Yesterday I had the beef, chicken, and fried fish tacos platter which was only 99 baht . I couldn't believe how tasty they were, especially the fish taco! Tell only your best friends...

The boat burger is the best burger I've had in Thailand. Big piece of beef, and egg, piece of chicken, cheese. Massive, with decent fries. Staff is simply the best, so nice. One member took a look at the travel rod I had with my and noticed some of my gear wasn't appropriate for fishing in the area. He ran out and got the proper gear and fixed my rod up for me. This place is the best place to drink and eat this side of koh samui and it is conveniently next door to the pier with boats going and coming from koh tao and koh pagnan.

The owner here is one of the friendliest guys I have met and was extremely helpful with everything. The decor and seating is very nice too with a sea view.

Just a shame I didn't take any...
