(Updated my review on 18 JAN 2023)

DEAR our be loved foreigners/ tourists,

This is one of the most be loved restaurant by local people and own by a local family.

This morning many people who ate here experience 2 foreigners (1 Asian ethnic woman and 1 white male Caucasian) who ate their food and not willing to pay full amount. Even if the order was not as they expected, they probably ordered it wrong, but they did eat it, so they should pay for it. Instead the femal kept arguing that the order was wrong, she said she asked for small one but instead get the big one. My point is I don't care whatever she was arguing about, but they ate it all, they must pay for it. The difference is just 60 THB and she made a scene about it.

Most of the staffs (if not all) here cannot communicate in English. So if you cannot order in Thai language and just point at the menu, there are chances that you could order wrong and don't get what you meant to order. I helped a few foreigners to get the right order before. Even if the food he got before that was not what he wants, he still paid for it, he did ate a bit to try the food.

Anyway, this restaurant has never taken advantage from customers and they've been making good tasty food we've enjoyed for more than a decade, if not two (in my experience). So, please be nice, be kind, and try to be at your best possible behaviors whenever you're visiting other countries.

Respect the place, the country, the culture, and the people wherever you go. Don't make fool of yourselves and leave bad impression everywhere you go. If you behave, people will welcome you back anytime.

I hope you enjoy your time here in Phuket and in Thailand.

Thank you for finish reading my message here.

PS. Finally just right after I approached and talked to them, the staff told them to leave and gave up that 60THB they were supposed to earn. Probably just want to get rid of them causing bad atmostphere here. Customers who saw this made comments and did not enjoy their meals at all, including me as well.

I recently visited Roti Chaofa in Phuket. For over 35 years, the locals have flocked to Roti Chaofa for Thai-Muslim breakfasts, curries and Thai-style chicken biryani. The crisp, golden-brown rotis with a fluffy inner, are nicely salted and enjoyed with sweets or savouries. The tangy, juicy Beef Massaman curry is delightful.

I ordered the Thai Style Fried Chicken Biryani and it wasn’t what i expected…The rice served was aromatic but it seemed to me that either the rice was undercooked or they were purposely used glutinous rice grains and undercooked it. Taste wise for the rice it met our expectations, that it was light on the spices and the rice had a touch of sweetness to it. We ordered the Massaman Beef Curry to eat with the rice that too, although it was delicious it was also sweet. The fried chicken that came with our Biryani was good, it was juicy and tender, fried on the spot when you order.

We also got the Egg Roti, the Egg Roti was also interesting, they cooked the egg separately outside and tear them up into smaller pieces then put it into the roti and let cook. Therefore the results were that the outside was crispy and the inside was fluffy and it gave a very satisfying bite.

When i was there, there were many people yet service was quick and efficient, staff were also friendly and could speak Malay too.

Total spent was only 250 Thai Baht which i felt was a...

In terms of taste, this is one of the best traditional places we ate at. I gave the place 5 stars on all parts because it is great for what it is supposed to offer. It is cheap and cheerful. It is not a fancy place, run down, would fail trstaurant hygience standards, untrained staff who dont speak english but it works. Now, I'm very particular about where to eat, concerned for cleanliness and hygiene standards however gave this a try and was pleasantly surprised. Albeit, that day 5 of us got very ill, can't say exactly why but...make that decision for urself. I asked for ovaltine with coffee, was nice. Crispy roti was incredible. I am still craving the Roti with egg and cheese. The massandan I was told was delicious (not my type of breakfast dish). Chocolate roti is roti drizzled with chocolate sauce, was a good meal ending. Ice drinks looked great but we stay away from ice in Thailand. So go for it if uv got a strong stomach but be realistic and prepared for...

The hype did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious. Bold yet harmoniously mixed Thai flavors. Big portion sizes. Insanely cheap for a Michelin star restaurant. The goat curry and beef massaman are a must have as well as the beef and cheese mataba. The mataba comes with a sweet sauce filled with fresh chilies, onions and cucumbers that was so refreshing. The beef mataba itself has a mix of freshly chopped chilies and onions. Nothing at all felt oily. The use of fresh ingredients was definitely noticeable. The goat and beef in the curry’s was melt in your mouth. Probably some of the most tender meat I’ve had. Egg and cheese roti was also great. We also got the fresh orange juice and Thai milk tea. The orange juice was absolutely delicious. Very sweet. Not cold as they juice it fresh. If you’re in town this is a must go. Best of all it is halal. Don’t forget to get the fried chicken from the lady in front. You’re missing out if you don’t!
