My love of Thai food is deep, and I cook Thai food at home, making curry pastes using a mortar and pestle . So a trip to this market was exciting and interesting. All the different fresh and dried ingredients made me want to cook. There were also many ingredients and herbs that I had no idea what they were and the people working there were very helpful in explaining what everything was. I had such a great time here wandering through the stands and checking everything out. Also to photograph, this place is wonderful to capture the daily lives and faces of the Thai people. Working at a food market is a tough life and the people had so much character in their faces. Must see in Phuket if you enjoy cooking and experiencing...

Is an old town style market comprises of a dry & wet market and local cooked food at the basement available for breakfast only. Lots of local fresh produce available. Prices are very reasonable too... Is very crowded in the morning as with all markets & it gets pretty hot as the sun rises. Parking can be a problem too cos nearby is also a bus terminal for those going to the popular Patong Area or beach. Lots of local reasonably price meals available around the market area & a big Chinese Temple very nearby to visit & see the local culture. Good photo opportunity for old style buildings & people...

Unfortunately I caught the market 10 minutes before it closed. It was a small night market. I was there looking for food since I had just checked into my hostel and recently got off a 6 hour bus ride. There wasn't much food left to eat by the point I got there and the vendors weren't willing to bargain prices which is unfortunate because there were a hand full of people looking for food.
