Cosy mismatched quirky collectibles. It's like dining in your aunt's living room/house. With knick knacks thoughtfully strewn throughout the restaurant, there wasn't a spot that didn't draw your eyes. My dad especially loved the gold fish on the walls. I loved the clocks!
But don't get distracted by the decor of the place because the food here is delicious.
I had the Vienna schnitzel and it was smothered in melted cheese. It was absolutely heavenly and I really enjoyed every bite. The pork was tender and the crust was delicious.
We also tried the large assortment of German sausages. A great combination of different types and all were good. Recommended as a sharing plate and can even be ordered in lieu of any starters.
It's a German restaurant so the grilled pork knuckles were a no-brainer and they didn't disappoint. The sauerkraut and potatoes really combined well with the crispy pork knuckles and the meat was tender and moist.
We ordered a rump steak and although it was a rather generous portion, it was a tad tough, especially for my elderly uncle. I'm no chef and maybe that's the way it's done. It isn't the most expensive cut of meat so I guess we need to manage our expectations.
I would have loved to order the cordon bleu and the ox tongue. But on my next visit, would I be able to resist the call of the schnitzel?
For dessert, we ended with the creme caramel and the apple strudel. Both were rich and delectable. I think sometimes an apple strudel/pie should come with a generous dollop of ice cream but the warm vanilla added a lovely touch instead. To each his own. After having the apple strudel here, I am now indifferent to either warm vanilla or ice cream... Perhaps I should have done both!
The grounds of the restaurant is interesting and worthy of a short walkabout. If you're into all things German, perhaps this is where one should start. I'm sure their German classes are highly rated and their library/resource centre stocked with all sorts of German related paraphernalia.
Thank you for a most memorable meal. I look forward to my next visit. I'll order the ox tongue, the cordon bleu and the...
Read moreExtensive menu of a good mix of authentic German food, and of course some Thai and some Italian food!
Was here tonight with a group of friends, mostly ex pats and we actually had a really good time !
The service is really good. The food quality is actually quite nice and I would highly recommend this place. It is hidden inside the Gothe institute so it’s a little tricky to get in but if you ask, most people will say it’s right here and then of course it’s right in your face!
The only annoying thing is that I made reservations for tonight which is when the dinner was reserved for and I got a call last month saying where are we thinking we were coming December 27 which I corrected and then I didn’t hear from them and then all of a sudden I’m getting calls incessantly today to see if I cancelled which of course I didn’t And I keep my conversations on Facebook messenger yo track & to make sure they know that I am coming!
I understand the restaurant is busy and that’s the reason I made reservations if I were to cancel I would’ve cancelled them but I didn’t but somehow they thought we’re not gonna show up and they’re continuously were bother some about whether we were gonna show up or not which is very annoying !
Anyway, I would highly recommend going to this place it’s cozy. It’s got a really nice ambiance and the decoration is very European overcrowded paintings with flower 🌺 motifs, but overall very well done !

Read moreIts barely 5 weeks since I returned from a work trip from Germany. And I have to admit that I really miss some good German food. As my craving for German food intensifies, I decided to quickly do a hunt for a good German restaurant. Ratsstube came on top of my search very quickly.
The decor as soon as we step into the restaurant was very charming, boasting of German charm with some Thai influence in it. I immediately knew I am in it for a good time.
The menu are quite extensive, and I have problem selecting as there are only the two of us but we wanted to try as much food as possible.
We ended up ordering: Chicken schnitzel with roast potatoes Pork with rosti Shrimp salad Weisswurst sausage with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut And of course some good ol German beers!
These are truly culinary delights which instantly transport me back to Germany. Shrimp salad as a start are very fresh. The shrimps are of high quality and with enough acidity, this is truly a great way to start our meal.
Chicken schnitzel was thin breaded chicken breast fried to golden brown. I can't get enough of it. I was surprised that the potatoes that accompanied with it tastes soooo good!
Pork with rosti was another delightful dish. I can't tell what is the sauce used on the pork, but it is absolutely delicious!
Sausages was the star of the night in my opinion. Very succulent with the right balance of fat and meat ratio.
And one special mention. Rattstube have a team of very charming, capable, friend people who will go all out to help the customers. They are one of the best people I have seen in the service sector. Their pro-activeness really help me and my partner to elevate our dining experience.
Extremely delicious and friendly and kind staffs, Rattstube deserves way more...
