Wong's Place — Restaurant in Thung Maha Mek Subdistrict

I think there is Mafia place, can open till 6am., even the selection time while any other place have to close by 1am

Wong’s Wife is scary cashier, shouting and very rude

Waiter and old lady they are nice to me while she is get mad at me

the costumer mostly foreigner+gay mans, nice and patient for angry owner.

Let’s start my first and last experience there..

I came with a friend,I ordered for a beer and didn’t have enough cash, I ask if there accepting card,

Waiter: no only cash, You can go to ATM near by

Me: can you wait? I will go get cash (walk to my friend dancing, forget about drink)

Waiter : (came with my drink to the place where I standing)

Wong’s wife : (far back at the cashier counter and shouting) you have to pay

Me : (back to tell her) I have no enough cash just wait.

Wong’s wife: you already orderd you have to pay, cannot cancel (shouting voice)

Me : I didn’t cancel just wait to find the cash. you don’t have to shout.

Wong’s wife: Here is treating people like this, and why you looking at me, you wanna have a problem?, if you not ok just leave the place I don’t care.

Me : Ok I leave the place

Wong’s Wife : But you have to pay me for what you are odered

Me: (I just walk away to tell my friend)

My friend: I already paid for your drink where is your drink?

Me : I didn’t known (so I back with my friend and ask for my beer)

Wing’s wife: I not taking care of it. (Keep shouting)

My friend: If you shout I can shout too. (Singing loundly)

Wong’s Wife : You wanna go out properly or with disabilities? Can you help to take her out (Tell once of the waiter)

Waiter: (find me drink) just go to your table

Oh I don’t know how to communicate with this angry lady, she might mentally and mafia with lelative might high rank police? Search for this name กิจติเดชานุภาพ there is the picture on the wall, if you want to go there and have experience yourself, up to you. But I will not support this kind of people anymore, they are Shit!!

A welcomed change from other bars. Wong's is located in a small street off another in a small row of old buildings along soi1. It had a very good vibe and gets crowded after all clubs have to close around 1 or 2am by law. You can easily miss it as the entrance door is very inconspicuous with no real signage. A narrow rectangular bar with some seating but when full then everyone sands. Not big place with a distressed look to it that's on purpose. Just a no nonsense bar with good music, drink prices are fair but 1 advice: To earn the privilege of being in Wong's then you have to keep buying drink rounds & you'll be noticed if standing without drinks for a long time. The place isn't too big so it does make sense.. If you're not buying, then free.up tje real-estate for others who will. A reminder that very few places in Bangkok are open at that time of night & you get into Wong's on a Friday night after clubbing and people start leaving on Saturday morning with the sun mid sky. It's a smelly and dodgy afterhours dive bar hidden in the residential alley. You can only cab there because of no parking space. The place was filled with 40% tourist and 60% local.

The owner and staff were a bit pushy and intimidating. Drinks were not cheap but necessary. Opened until 10am which is unheard of. Unlimited capacity. If there was a fire, this shoulder to shoulder locale is unlikely to get out fast enough. Actually, because of the constant cloud of smoke you might not even feel it. Expect a shorter life span.

It looks overrated, dangerous but perfect for tourist who enjoys an old-scened speakeasy experiment. If you are an adventurous backpacker, this bar offers an exotic vibe and a chance to meet and talk with like-minded strangers. However if you are with a classy crowd, this place is...
