Food Review | Puponfai Seafood Restaurant – A Feast of Flavors
My dining experience at Puponfai Seafood Restaurant was an absolute delight—a true celebration of fresh seafood, bold flavors, and vibrant presentation! From grilled river prawns to spicy clams, every dish impressed with its authenticity and depth of taste.
Grilled Giant River Prawns 🦐
The star of the meal! These colossal prawns were perfectly charred, with smoky, crispy shells and juicy, sweet meat inside. The accompanying green dipping sauce added a tangy, herbal kick. This dish set the tone for an unforgettable seafood feast.
Signature Grilled Squid 🦑
A must-try! The squid was expertly grilled—tender yet slightly chewy, with beautiful grill marks. It came with two dipping sauces: a light green one (citrusy and fresh) and a spicier orange-red option.
Garlic Butter Prawns 🍤
A garlic lover’s dream! Plump prawns smothered in golden fried garlic, scallions, and chili flakes. The aroma alone was intoxicating—crispy, savory, and slightly sweet.
Blood Clams 🐚
A bold, briny delight! These clams were steamed just right, retaining their natural ocean flavor.
Final Verdict:
Puponfai Seafood Restaurant delivers an exceptional seafood experience—fresh, flavorful, and full of Thai-inspired zest. The stainless-steel tables and no-frills plating keep the focus on the food, making it ideal for casual group dining.

Grilled squid Fried rice extra crab Steamed cockle Steamed blue crab legs and claws
Okay, first of all the food are delicious. Seafood with no bad smell or taste. The price you're paying for, you get both quantity and quality. They don't have the right visual to represent the quantity given but every food is sufficient for 2 pax at least. The order I made is in the assumption it's not a big portion hence I severely overestimated for 2 pax.
The fried rice have great work hei. Uncle Roger approves. Taste just right with the crab meat. Big portion btw, filled to the brim of the box. Exactly like it looked on top vs the picture.
Cockles are not real-time fresh out of the ocean but it doesn't smell bad. It tastes just right with the sauces given. Blends the taste amazingly with both different spicy sauces.
Grilled squid taste nice as well. Not over or under cooked, just right with the sauces again.
The steamed crab legs and claws are tasty. It's a finger-sized length but the quantity given is more than enough.
They even have a small bag of some vegetables complementing the grilled/steam foods.
There's takeaway fee but it's understandable as payable by cash. The cash need to bring back to the shop. So it's a two way trip.
You can order via Line or Instagram. Very fast replies.
The food still tastes good for me as I don't stay far from their shop. Experience may differ if you're ordering from far.

Read moreWe ordered big prawn glass noodle claypot, fried squid with roe and milk steam crab with roe. The food is extremely subpar. Not to say inedible, but is quite poor. The flavour is blend for all of them. The squid u can only taste salt.
As for service wise, not sure if all the waitresses are owed salary, because they all look very unhappy, if not nonchalant at servicing at all. Perhaps u get better service at McDonalds.
Food serving was poor too. They don't cook the food by table order, rather just cook what they think is convenient. U will see some table that come after u got served the similar food as u. But u will have to wait for 15 to 20 mins or more in between dish. So basically u just finish one dish, and sit there wait for another dish to come. So if u are looking to wait for all the dish to come and take photo, u better ask for a microwave, because all will be cold by then.
In conclusion, will not recommend this restaurant. Nothing standout at all. Perhaps night market seafood...
