a dinner worth every dinar
la bella marina (hammamet sud, tunisia)
nibbles: with our meal we were served complimentary bread and dips. these included cucumber salad, pepper salsa, onion salsa, tomato compote, olives, and butter. this mini platter was a lovely start to our meal.
tomato and mozzarella salad: i LOVE tomato and mozzarella, so as soon as i saw this on the menu i knew i was going to get this. i feel like there could have been a little more mozzarella in this salad as it was a little overpowered by the tomato, but you can’t really go wrong with this salad, especially paired with basil. this salad will always receive a thumbs up from me
filet mignon: WOW. this dish was incredible. i was served three cuts of streak in the most beautiful creamy mushroom sauce. i asked for my steak to be cooked rare and it came out medium rare(ish) which is still okay for me. it was served with roasted vegetables and chips. the chips were a little underdone for me, but still okay. very, very, very nice dish.
lamb shank: the lamb shank was cooked beautifully. it fell away from the bone and tasted delicious. the sauce it was served with could have been a little different in my eyes. it was a gravy made from the lamb so didn’t add much to it. i would have preferred something a little fruity or herby, but it was still okay. this does not take away from how tender and tasty the lamb was. the lamb was served with chips and roasted vegetables, the same as the filet mignon.
the service here was great. the staff were so attentive without being overbearing. i ordered wine with the meal, which turned out to be a full bottle! i would love to come back here again and try their seafood - it...
Read moreFabulous restaurant. We first visited in the 24th October as we were getting bored with the all-inclusive at the hotel. Great food, great service, and great price (we paid 367dt, which is about £90) for both my wife and I, as well as our 10-year-old twins. This included 3 course meals and drinks, with complimentary bread. This sounds expensive, but considering I paid about £71 for 3 bland hot dogs with stale chips and a salad at Luton airport a couple of days beforehand, it's definitely worth it. We enjoyed it so much that we went back there a few days later, and we were not disappointed. I had the Mediterranean Fry for a starter. It was massive, so much so that I struggled to finish eating it - and I can eat! I also had fillet steak with roquefort cheese, which cost about £15, I would have paid at least £35 for a similar dish in the UK.
I really did fancy having lobster, but you have to choose which one you want to have. They are still alive, and I couldn't bring myself to decide which one would be killed, but that's a discussion for another day.
The desserts are amazing too, I went for the chocolate mousse on both occasions, and it was delicious.
Well worth the visit if you are...
Read moreLe Bella Marina is pure magic. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and truly world-class. The complimentary transfers made the evening seamless, and the setting – dining outdoors under the stars with beautiful piano music – created an atmosphere that felt nothing short of enchanting.
The food was extraordinary. We began with the seafood platter for two, a feast so generous it easily delighted four of us. Every main course was a triumph: the king prawns were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour, the Mediterranean fish fillet was delicate and superb, the sautéed squid was divine, and the fillet steak was prepared with absolute precision. Each dish showcased the freshness of the ingredients and the remarkable skill of the kitchen.
Le Bella Marina is an experience to treasure – exceptional seafood, elegant surroundings, and a team who go above and beyond to make the evening unforgettable. A true must-visit...
