Obladi Coffee — Restaurant in Tunis

Obladi has always been a special place for me. It’s right next door, the coffee is great, and the atmosphere is perfect for studying. The music selection is always on point, and the young baristas are friendly, kind, and welcoming, they’ve made every visit feel warm and easy. Unfortunately, that changed today. I believe the person I encountered was the owner. I’ve seen him once or twice before, and his attitude stood out both times. He was shockingly rude, not just to customers, but especially to his own staff. You could feel the tension the moment he stepped in to help behind the counter. Today, the place was packed, both upstairs and downstairs. I waited patiently in line, and as I approached the staff with a smile, I was simply going to ask if I could maybe bring a table from outside (it’s cold outside and there was space inside). Before I could even finish my sentence, the man cut me off sharply: “What do you want?” I calmly said “Just a second, I haven’t found a place to sit yet,” when he immediately snapped: Oh sure, let me invent a place for you. Or Maybe I’ll kick out one client or two so you can sit? I was stunned. I quietly said thank you and walked out. I’m deeply disappointed. It’s sad to feel pushed out of a place I used to like so much. No matter how good the coffee or the vibe is, no one deserves to be treated with such hostility. Respect matters. I won’t be...

This place feels more like a quiet library for students to study rather than a proper coffee shop for brunch. I recently tried their brunch and honestly wouldn't recommend it for breakfast. While the concept of serving brunch all day every day sounds appealing, I was disappointed to find only three menu options available when I arrived at noon!

It's winter, and they didn’t even have orange juice, which was surprising. As for the brunch itself, I ordered their most expensive option, which included scrambled eggs with toast and pain perdu. The eggs and toast were completely flavourless, and the 'pain perdu' was nothing like the real thing—it was just a dry piece of cake with some syrup on top, and it tasted awful 😖
