A Total Belly-Flop from TripAdvisor’s Top List – Lale Restaurant, Alanya
If Lale truly ranks third on TripAdvisor’s list of best restaurants in Alanya, then either the list was compiled blindfolded or as a joke. We arrived with high hopes, trusting TripAdvisor’s usually reliable recommendations. What we got instead was a culinary caricature that doesn’t even deserve street food status.
The starter? Dry, lifeless bread triangles and wrinkled olives – no spread, no gesture of hospitality. We looked around hopefully, but the waiters seemed programmed to ignore customers. I ate one piece of bread just to confirm to myself that yes, this is actually happening. Why such a starter? Perhaps a reminder that life doesn’t always go as planned.
The main course – lamb tenderloin with smoked aubergine – was like a joke without a punchline. A scoop of mash dumped on an appetizer plate, topped with a few scraps of meat. No vegetables, no sauce, nothing to elevate it to restaurant level. I asked in disbelief, “Is this all?” The answer was as empty as the plate. And the price? 760 lira. This dish wouldn’t satisfy even a medium-sized cat. Was it even lamb tenderloin? It’s supposed to be tender, but these pieces needed serious carving before they gave in. Everything about this dish missed the mark.
The waiter’s defense was like a poorly scripted comedy: the portion is small because the restaurant also serves starters. HELLO – so do all other restaurants, yet their mains don’t look like the chef forgot half the dish in the kitchen. Then he claimed it was a traditional Turkish meal. Sorry, but Turkish cuisine is usually generous, flavorful, and made with heart. This was none of those things.
If you want to pay a painful price and leave hungry, Lale is your place. But if you value food, service, and fair value for your money – go next door to Mehmet’s Moonlight. Lale was hands down the worst dining experience in Alanya. I wouldn’t recommend it even out...
Read moreIf flavour had a holiday home, it would live at Lale in Alanya. Our final stop in the city didn’t just serve dinner—it threw a party on our plates. Big, confident portions strutted out of the kitchen, each bite bursting with flavour that knew exactly how to hold the spotlight. From zingy starters to mains that left us gloriously stuffed, this was dining turned theatre.
We swore we couldn’t manage dessert, but Lale had a trick up its sleeve: a bowl of frozen grapes, cool little gems that felt equal parts playful and clever. Just when we thought the curtain had dropped, my partner was handed a shot of meloncello—sweet, bright, and the perfect encore.
Add to that a romantic setting, all warm lighting and an intimate atmosphere, and it’s the kind of place that makes dinner feel like a date, even if you weren’t planning one. Service matched the mood beat for beat—Efe and Berril were the kind of staff you remember: attentive without fuss, effortlessly charming, and clearly in on the magic of the place.
Lale isn’t just worth a visit—it’s the restaurant you’ll be name-dropping to friends before your flight home. Five stars,...
Read moreWonderful hidden garden in the heart of Alanya city center. Highly recommended place if you wanna try some traditional modernized Turkish food. Wish meal would be more well seasoned- felt like some dishes were slightly over-salted or opposite. But overall very nice dinner. Price and portion/meal have a great proportion. For a drink we’ve choose a signature cold tea - and this worth all evening!!! Hummus could be smoother, but flavors were great still. Liver was a bit too salty, that’s why food was scored as 4. Wonderful octopus and sweet potatoe service. Overall very highly...
