The House Cafe Akaretler — Restaurant in Beşiktaş

Really bad experience. We came here couple of years before and the place was really nice. So i brought my family for lunch with really high expectations. The waiter took the order very fast and seemed to understand everything in English. I asked if they have apple tea, cause it was not in menu. He asked me if I want hot or cold, I asked for hot. So some time later the apple tea arrived cold and with ice! When i said i ordered hot, they told me they don't have it. So i had to order another tea. Also i ordered Ayran with mint and basil. They brought me ayran with hair!!!! When i showed it to waiter, he was neither surprised nor sorry, he said "it's ok". I said that it is not ok and he should at least apologise. He said ok we will change. The food arrived. Chicken in Ceasar salad was burnt, parmesan, truffle fries were without any spices. They fidn't bring my ayran so i had to ask for it. When it finally arrived it was WITHOUT mint and basil. I told to the guy, he is supervisor, the one with earring. And he was soooo rude!!! He didn't speak English but he shouted at me in Turkish and had really agressive face expression! This is a service??? Finally i received ayran with mint and basil but it didn't even taste like ayran, no salt. It is some kind of kefir. Terrible service, food not worth the money. Spoilt...

The food isn't bad at all and the atmosphere is great but what a shame the service is terrible. We were seated inside and I wanted to order another drink and I kept trying to get the waiters' attention but they were too busy with other customers or laughing and chatting with each other. When I finally got the attention of one waiter, he ignored me not just once but twice. I felt like I was begging them to have my order placed! I later found out that the waiter was in charge of the outside area, not inside thus why he couldn't be bothered with me. Couldn't he have signalled me to hold on while he got a waiter in charge of the inside area? I would totally understand that but instead, he was just soo rude, ignoring me and looking annoyed that I tried to order from him. In the end, I placed my order with someone else. It just shows me how much the lack of professionalism and training is amongst the staff. I'm all up for tipping and service charge as I think servers should be tipped and paid a token of appreciation for their service and hard work but in this case, the service staff are utterly disappointing and lacking of manners. 9 Şubat Cumartesi günü, The House Cafe’nin Akaretler şubesinde son derece rahatsız edici ve profesyonellikten uzak bir durumla karşılaştım. Mekâna girdiğimde bahçe kısmında yalnızca birkaç masa doluydu ve oldukça sakin bir ortam vardı. Köşedeki dört kişilik bir masaya oturdum ve arkadaşımı beklemeye başladım.

Bir süre sonra mekânın müdürü (ilk başta garson olduğunu düşündüm) yanıma geldi. Kendisine içerinin soğuk olduğunu ve ısıtıcının bulunduğu başka bir alan olup olmadığını sordum. Ancak kendisi son derece kaba bir üslupla, yalnızca ortadaki sıkışık ve rahatsız masalarda ısıtıcı bulunduğunu belirtti ve iki kişi olduğumuz için küçük bir masaya geçmemiz gerektiğini söyledi. Mekânın neredeyse boş olduğunu göz önünde bulundurarak masamı değiştirmeyeceğimi nazik bir şekilde ifade ettim.

Arkadaşım geldikten hemen sonra kendisi tekrar yanımıza gelip, mekânın birazdan kalabalık olacağını ve mutlaka iki kişilik masalara geçmemiz gerektiğini söyledi. Kendisinin bu ısrarcı ve kaba tavrına karşılık, masa değiştirmeyeceğimi ve eğer böyle bir zorunluluk varsa mekânı terk edeceğimi belirttim. Bunun üzerine, son derece saygısız bir şekilde, “Tabii ki gidebilirsiniz.” diyerek müşteriyi adeta mekândan kovma yoluna gitti. Durumu şikâyet etmek istediğimde ise konuştuğum kişinin bizzat müdür olduğunu öğrendim ve bu yaklaşım karşısında şoke oldum.

Hemen yan tarafta bulunan Happy Moons Cafe’ye geçtiğimizde, buranın aksine tıklım tıklım dolu olduğunu gördük. Orada da yalnızca büyük bir masa ve oldukça sıkışık bir iki kişilik masa boştu. Küçük masada oturmak istemediğimizi söylediğimizde, herhangi bir itirazla karşılaşmadan, güler yüzlü bir şekilde büyük masaya alındık. Bu durum, The House Cafe’nin neden boş olduğunu ve müşteri kaybettiğini net bir şekilde gösterdi.

Boş bir mekânda, yalnızca kişisel keyfi doğrultusunda müşterilere masa değiştirmesi için baskı yapan, üslup ve müşteri ilişkileri konusunda tamamen yetersiz bir müdürün böyle bir zincir kafede görev alıyor olması kabul edilemez. Tekrar belirtmek isterim ki, tamamen keyfi bir tutumla, üstelik kaba bir şekilde müşteri yönlendirmek, işletme prensipleriyle bağdaşmayan bir durumdur.

Bu olay, The House Cafe’ye karşı güvenimi tamamen sarsmış olup, bir daha tercih etmeyeceğimi ve kimseye de tavsiye etmeyeceğimi açıkça belirtmek isterim. Bu konuda yetkili kişilerden gerekli aksiyonun alınmasını ve tarafıma dönüş...
