I understand that Türkiye has experienced some merciless inflation. As a result, many good restaurants in Istanbul are no longer affordable for us regular tourists from the broad developing world. I felt so lucky to have discovered this authentic Uzbek restaurant while traveling in Istanbul, for it might have single-handedly kept the city on my list of places to return to despite the high overall cost of dining out. I ate here twice already in three days. First things first- the food was phenomenal. Beef plov was probably one of the best plates I ever had in my life. Each grain of rice was perfectly chewy, bouncy, and evenly coated in rich, meaty grease. The raisins and slices of yellow carrots especially added a layered sweetness to the savory flavor. More importantly, the generous portion alone could already keep me full for at least half a day. The free side dish of Achichuk salad was also a highlight, Its crunchy texture and fresh taste complemented the plov so well, neutralizing some heaviness of the carbs and animal fat. Beef samsa was predictably hearty and flavorful, and then the pumpkin samsa surprised my palate with its tender, creamy filling and a hint of nuttiness. All in all, everything was so satisfying for such reasonable pricing. Service was fast, and staff was friendly. I also liked its location in a less glamorous area in the highly touristy Fatih district- it felts fitting for the restaurant’s approachable, down-to-earth nature in this context of high inflation.

If you are looking for fancy overpriced delicately plated dishes this is probably not the place for you. However, if you are looking for delicious, hearty, filling and flavorsome, then head on in my friend. Located in a somewhat hidden basement are incredible Uzbek flavors! Had never had Uzbek food before and I will certainly be seeking out more. The plov and samsa were delicious, as was another dish (“golapsi”?) with bell peppers stuffed with meat and cabbage. Everything we ate was great! Best meal we had in Istanbul. They didn’t speak English but that was not a problem as they were kind and patient and we were able to point at the menus.

This is now my favorite restaurant in the whole Istanbul. All the dishes are flavorful and authentic. The oxtail soup is actually a very large bowl of stew, and the meat is so tender it falls off the bones. The stuffed baked breads are awesome, and so is the traditional meat cooked with rice. The portions are very hearty, and prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is frequented by locals, so I know it must be good. Give this place a try, and you won't be disappointed. Service is also very good.

If you’re looking for an authentic Uzbek dining experience, look no further. I had the pleasure of trying their Uzbek Plov and Samsa, and I can confidently say that everything was 10/10—from the flavors to the atmosphere and service.

Food – 10/10

I ordered the Uzbek Plov, and it was absolutely delicious! The rice was perfectly cooked—fluffy, fragrant, and rich in flavor. The combination of tender, juicy meat with sweet carrots and the perfect blend of spices made it an unforgettable dish. Each bite felt like a warm, comforting taste of Uzbekistan.

The Samsa was another highlight of my meal. The crispy, golden-brown pastry was filled with a juicy and well-seasoned meat filling. The layers of the dough were perfectly baked, giving a wonderful crunch with every bite. It was served fresh and hot, making it even more enjoyable.

Service – 10/10

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They made sure I was comfortable and explained the dishes to me. The food was served quickly and with a smile, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

Ambience – 10/10

The restaurant’s interior had a warm and cozy vibe, with traditional Uzbek decor that made me feel like I had stepped into Uzbekistan. The music, the design, and even the way the food was presented added to the authenticity of the experience.

Overall Experience – 10/10

I highly recommend to anyone who wants to try real Uzbek food. Whether you’re a fan of Plov, Samsa, or just want to explore new flavors, this place will not disappoint. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes soon!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5/5...
