I never leave reviews. Honestly I don’t care enough to but the staff were absolutely awful. From the moment we stepped in the guy at the front desk literally ignored us like we didn’t exist, they told us the floor to go up to and he didn’t even come in the lift with us he just pressed the button and let us go up. The staff seated us, we waited about 10 mins before we were like this is weird nobody is serving us. The waiter asks us in plain English “has anyone taken your order yet” we reply “no” he then just walks off??? He continues to serve everyone but us and occasionally glances at us. The last time he does it I stand up to ask him are you going to take our order? He then pretends to not understand what we’re saying (I could be wrong about this). I then sit down and confront him about the fact he hasn’t served us and pretended not to understand what I was saying. My sister got frustrated and stood up and said we’re leaving but he understood that? How do you not understand we haven’t had our order taken but you understand when we say we’re leaving? The staff tried to beg us to stay and he called his manager to talk to us. We did not stay. I want to leave the most impartial review of what happened, I do not think this happened because of my race (I am a black woman I also could be wrong on this sentiment). I personally think this man was not confident with English and was scared he’d mess our order up so he wanted his other colleague to take over as they were short staffed. Even though this was the case, he should have asked someone else to take our order. I’m sure the food here is great and the staff are lovely. But along with the experiences I’ve had in this country even just walking along to the restaurant we were harassed by men, it left a nasty taste in my mouth. I had an amazing experience at Istanbul Restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern elegance and traditional Turkish charm. The dim lighting, soft music, and beautifully decorated space created a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere.
