I’ve been to my fair share of upscale restaurants whether its in Istanbul or Tokyo but I was disappointed by Zuma İstanbul.

We arrived at the establishment around 5 pm and greeted but no one but silence so we went directly upstairs and the host was no where to be find so we asked a waiter to be seated and waited for a few more minutes and guided to our table. As we walked by the tables it was clear to me this isn’t the wonderful place I’ve been few years back and something has gone wrong.

As we sat down we were given our menus and greated twice once by waiter and second one by host whom weren’t present at the first place. Menus were wee bit dirty and for a place with Michelin guide plaques at the entrance which indicates they’re shooting for a star or at least bib gourmad ant it was disappointing.

We ordered vegetables tempura to share, 9 piece nigiri , chili miso marinated beef ribs wine and beer. Tempura was good with not overpowering batter and we were able to taste the vegetables, also I enjoyed the tempura sauce. Unfortunately rice of the nigiris were dry and little bit crunchy which indicates there is some room for improvement in that front also wasabi wasn’t fresh grated. When it comes to the beef ribs it was great and melting in our mouth with its spice level was fine. The thing was I had to ask for cutlery which was weird because it wasn’t presliced or bite sized food like in an izakaya setting.

But this being an izakaya we weren’t given hot towels and offered otoshi but this must be the contemporary side for an establishment which prides itself being both an izakaya and contemporary.

At the end of our meal there was Chorei - Japanese prework meeting- yelling at the kitchen which was fine by me but not for the regular folks which most of them were staring at the kitchen.

Overall it was a fine experience but not an...

Dining at this exquisite Japanese cuisine haven in Istanbul, and it truly exceeded all expectations. The moment you step in, you're greeted with an ambiance that radiates luxury and sophistication.

The food is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish is a meticulously crafted masterpiece, bursting with authentic flavors that transport your taste buds straight to Japan. The culinary expertise shines through in every bite, leaving you craving for more.

The cocktails are nothing short of an art form. Each concoction is a delightful blend of flavors, perfectly complementing the culinary journey. The bartenders are true maestros, creating drinks that are both refreshing and memorable.

The evenings at the weekends are further elevated by the enchanting music that sets the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable experience. It's as if the notes dance in harmony with the flavors, creating a symphony for the senses.

The attention to detail in every aspect of this establishment is commendable. From the impeccable service to the elegant decor, every element contributes to an atmosphere of refined luxury.

A special mention must be made about the dress code for some nights. It adds a touch of class to the experience, making it ideal for special occasions or simply for those looking to elevate an evening out.

In a city brimming with culinary delights, this Japanese gem stands out as a true gem. It's a destination for connoisseurs who seek an extraordinary dining experience. My highest recommendation to anyone in search of...

Hello, I have a meal today at 10:00 pm. I came to Zama Restaurant at 9:00 and forty-five. When the time for the 10:00 table arrived, they asked me to wait at the bar for 10 in the morning. I was surprised by bringing men from the restaurant from inside and sitting at tables outside on the balcony that I requested at the specified time. I agreed twice in the afternoon and yesterday. She wanted a high table next to the DJ. To continue waiting 55 minutes, I was completely surprised. The relief worker called an impolite and disrespectful person who insulted me by raising his hand. When I asked us to lower his voice, he raised his hand at me. There were three or three of the people. A Turkish man went with them to an empty table. The men came unless he took them to sit at the other food. When the receptionist was surprised, she said, “I don’t understand normal Syrian English. Wait 10 more times other than the next wait. This is inappropriate for an international restaurant. I have been to several countries. All the employees, with due consideration, are only mentioned in this restaurant. There was little politeness, so the Arab character appears on me. I came in an architectural style and on the voice of Australia. Safely, whether this was a matter Not required and I will escalate the matter to the tourist police and if the Istanbul Tourism Department

And just when I hoped I would have a 10/10 experience in this Zuma, I was kinda dissapointed. It was not the food nor the general impression of the place - actually I was loving it so much. It was the hostess that was so unfriendly and not helpful. Her attitude towards the guests in unacceptable and for such a place very uncovenient. We booked a table a day before for 2 and NOT a bar table with high chairs where she wanted to put us. Then when we got upset because of it she barely found the table for us. It was sunday evening and it was not crowded. Not to have her mistaken with the hostess that worked downstairs(taller with longer brown hair) - she was the kindest. This one was short like her temper and her wish to do the job. Completely unprofessional. The waiters were amazing, the food was also amazing, the vibe was amazing, I really did love it. But this girl should go and find another job as she is spoiling the general good vibe. Cocktails were to die for, raspberry martini I love you.
