Today, my sister and I went to this restaurant and felt that we were treated differently from other customers. We experienced discrimination through gestures, body language, and expressions. We observed that when other rich Arab families arrived, they were welcomed warmly with smiles, and the staff immediately went to take their orders. In our case, we waited a long time without anyone coming to us. While I understand that there may have been a lot of orders and it could have been busy, customers who arrived 15-20 minutes after us were treated well. We ordered only one item. Even customers who came before us whenever they placed new orders like additional dishes , it was made sure that they were served first eventhough their first dishes were already served.
Eventually, we had to call someone over, and they came to ask about water, which is their duty I guess. I don't know what responsibilities belong to which staff member, but after discussing the water details, it should have been their responsibility to send someone to take our food order. However, when I mentioned our order to the water person, he said that he wasn’t the right one to take it and walked away. It felt as if they didn’t care unless we put in extra effort to approach them.
Finally, someone came to take our order, but the food was served very late. While I understand that delays happen, especially with multiple orders, it was frustrating to see a large family who came after us being served before us. Perhaps that family had a reservation, which I can somewhat understand, but what I don’t understand is why our plates weren’t placed with the usual paper beneath them, something that is always done for every other table. The person who served our food (New person, he has no idea about this discrimination from other staff) had no similar intentions and seemed surprised when he noticed the missing paper beneath the plate and plates as this is something which is usually done for majority of the tables . He apologized and made sure to provide it for us.
I sensed something was off even before we placed the order, and now I regret not leaving earlier. My sister insisted to stay and convince me, where I blindly followed her decision, sacrificing my self-respect. There shouldn’t be any distinction in how customers are treated based on ethnicity, whether Arab or Indian. Every customer deserves...
Read moreThis is by far the best place for Syrian food in Abu Dhabi.
First off, the atmosphere is lovely. With the music in the background, the outdoor seating is right in front the sea and the skyline of AD.
The staff are not only friendly and welcoming but they are very kind and helpful and understanding.
The food: AMAZING. Their cherry kabab is to die for and their Kibbeh (the grilled and skewered) are mouthwatering. And unlike some places where grape leaves are served with thick annoying vines, these were cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. Their muhammarah is smooth and flavorful to complement your meat dishes.
I took my friends here to try Syrian food and honestly I felt so happy and proud of the food, the quality, the people, and the place. My friends not only enjoyed the food but they loved the whole experience of dining in and listening to Arab music while learning about the types of kibbeh and kabab offered.
Honestly everything was very amazing...
Read moreExcellent place for Syrian (Aleppo) style food. We went there for the Iftar buffet, and we had some excellent AND unique dishes I never had before. The chef was very passionate and explained the uniqueness of some of the dishes and the dedication with which these were prepared. Really special, especially the various salad dishes. Unfortunately, we came a bit late, and so some of the dishes are almost gone, and the meat could have been warmer. Also the desserts, although lovely, were not that wide of a choice. The staff was extremely good and shown love for their food, something I really appreciate. Very pleasantly priced as well.
To me, you recognize a good place to eat when the locals go out there for their dinner, and this place was packed. I guess we were the only foreigners. There is enough parking right next to the building. Overall a good meal and some...
