Salar Restaurant - ADNEC — Restaurant in Abu Dhabi

I have no words to describe this restaurant. The food is incredible, as well as the service. Once I ordered the BBQ box without knowing that it was raw (you see I come from another country and i never experienced this before, every time I ordered food from a restaurant it was always cooked). So you can imagine my disappointment, a foreign woman in a foreign country, tired, stressed and hungry! I felt like crying and I felt that I will not win my case. I decided to call the restaurant and tell them of my surprise when I opened the box and saw the raw meat. I asked if there was a way that I could return the meat to them (since I was unable to cook it in the hotel), I even offered to walk to the restaurant as I was staying in the vicinity and I was the one to pick up the order from the restaurant. The lady I spoke to on the telephone passed the phone on to her boss, who I believe was the Iranian owner, who not only offered to BBQ them for me but to send also his delivery guy to collect it from my hotel and then return it cooked to me at no extra cost!! I was almost in tears from the kindness I experienced. When I received the order it was nicely placed on a tray with rice and salad, wonderful presentation as every other time. I have 3 weeks in Abu Dhabi and I have ordered more than 6 times. Every time the food is better than the previous time. I had high hopes for Salar Restaurant, especially given my initial experiences where the food was nothing short of amazing. The flavors were vibrant, and each dish was a delightful treat for the palate. Unfortunately, my recent visits have been quite disappointing.

It seems that the quality of the food has taken a significant downturn. The meat and rice, which were once highlights of the meal, no longer meet the standards I had come to expect. The change is not just a minor adjustment; it feels like a complete shift away from the quality that initially drew me in. As a result, I can no longer recommend this restaurant to others.

Additionally, the dining environment leaves much to be desired. The air conditioning was not functioning well, making the space feel uncomfortably warm. Moreover, there was a persistent food smell that detracted from the overall dining experience. It felt as though the restaurant could benefit from better ventilation and cleanliness, as it lacked the vacuuming that would typically help maintain a pleasant atmosphere.

In conclusion, unless there are significant improvements made in both food quality and restaurant conditions, I would advise potential diners to look elsewhere. A true Iranian cuisine! If you love everything saffron infused! This is the place!!! I can’t believe my hotel nearby told me all restaurants are closed within the proximity! This restaurant opened til late 12AM! The best Iranian food ever in Abu Dhabi! The lamb koobideh is the best I ever had in my life! Anthony Bourdain swears by it! Must order the sultani and kebab barg! The chicken and lamb are so divine! Food Portion is so insanely huge too! Super friendly service and welcoming! I had the saffron ice cream, it was so refreshing !!!! I can’t believe that my Etihad flight delayed, set me up at a local hotel led me to wander the street to this restaurant! Iranian cuisine well presented! Khaled the staff and was personable and happy to offer me wifi password knowing I am tourist from far far away! He even gave me complimentary Tea/Cha from the Iranian traditional tea brewing pot! Ohhhh the flat breads are freshly baked to order in the tandoor in seconds!
