Babel Dubai — Restaurant in Dubai

I regret to share that my recent experience at your restaurant was less than satisfactory, particularly in terms of service and overall hospitality.

From the moment we arrived, there were several issues that stood out. I had made a reservation for breakfast at 10 a.m. and specifically requested a table on the terrace. However, the hostess called me one day prior and informed me that the terrace is closed during the morning hours, and I accepted a window table instead. While the restaurant was completely empty, when we came to the restaurant the hostess walked us halfway from the corridor and then simply instructed us "seat wherever you want" the turned and walked away. As a basic courtesy, I believe the hostess’ role should include guiding guests to their seats, ensuring that they are comfortably settled. Otherwise, the point of having a hostess seems useless.

Additionally, there was a gentleman at the entrance who greeted us with an unwelcoming demeanor, which set the tone for the rest of the visit. Although we were the only guests in the restaurant, the food service was extremely slow. I understand that the restaurant had just opened, but even something as simple as bread and coffee should have been brought to the table promptly. My coffee, in particular, took over 30 minutes to arrive, which is far from acceptable for a basic order.

When the food did finally arrive, it came after we wait for approx 40 minutes, which felt unreasonably long for a breakfast service, specially is their basic breakfast offer. Upon finishing our meal, we requested to take the leftover food with us, as we prefer not to waste food and often offer it to HK or others workers in the parking area. However, we were told that taking food to-go was "not possible." This response was particularly surprising, as I have worked for a well-known hospitality group, and we have always honored guest requests for takeout without hesitation.

To make matters worse, we then had to wait for around 20 minutes for our dessert. We were told that it was being "prepared," then later informed that the desserts available for takeaway had to be "approved by the Chef" because those that were ready were meant for dine-in only. At this point, we decided to forgot the dessert and left the restaurant, extremely disappointed by the entire experience.

Babel is undoubtedly one of the best Lebanese restaurants, both in Lebanon and Dubai. It’s my personal favorite, as they truly capture the authentic taste of every traditional Lebanese dish. The flavors are spot on, making each meal a delightful experience.

The staff is incredibly professional, and our server, Charbel, was exceptional—polite, attentive, and quick with service. The ambiance and vibes of the restaurant are just amazing, creating the perfect setting for a memorable meal.
