Although I rarely comment about my experience at a restaurant, I’ve decided to make an exception!
Last week, while attending a work meeting in Dubai and visiting the Dubai Mall for dinner, my team of five and I found the most incredible restaurant – Din Tai Fung. What caught our attention was the number of customers waiting to eat there, while other nearby restaurants were almost empty. We decided to wait for a table and found out soon that the wait was well worth it.
Being on a healthy diet, I was amazed at the variety of food available. I opted for the Chinese black mushroom salad, sauteed spinach, and scallion steamed fish. Our waiter, Mr. John Cler, told me there would be a 20-minute wait on the fish. I thought, “made to order!” Nice I thought, and I was correct when it arrived. It was so delicious as were the mushroom salad and sauteed spinach, which were delivered as they became available.
My colleagues each ordered their Chinese “favorites,” tapping many of John’s recommendations and descriptions while so doing. By the time we all had food in front of us… the silence was noticeable – other than yummy sounds by each team member. I cannot say how many compliments I heard. The service was simply incredible. Our waiter John was assisted by a few other waiters bringing food, but he exhibited a sense of ownership of our table to ensure we were happy and fully satisfied from placing our order within minutes of arrival, to receiving the bill upon completion of our desserts.
I asked John for a paper menu that each of us filled out to order our food. I counted 135 items on the menu, each with its own number. I was then able to realize just how the restaurant was run so efficiently given the number of customers and staff.
We asked our waiter John how long he’s worked there and if he liked his work. He replied affirmatively - likely the reason he was so focused on each customer in his professional and friendly manner. My colleagues were so impressed with his attitude that one asked why he wasn’t “managing the show” and mentoring the staff to be like him. Others began discussing ways he could be hired for our company. Bottom line, we will be sure to request him on our next visit to your fine restaurant – if he hasn’t already moved on to enhance his career!

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Din Tai Fung located in Dubai Mall, and it was truly a memorable experience, such a Taiwanese jewel , I was excited to try their renowned dumplings and other dishes. Here's my review of the restaurant.
First and foremost, the service was exceptional. The staff members were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They patiently guided us through the extensive options and offered helpful suggestions based on our preferences. Despite the restaurant being busy, our food arrived promptly, and the servers ensured we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Din Tai Fung exceeded my expectations with their delicious offerings. The dumplings were undoubtedly the highlight. Each delicate dish was meticulously crafted, with the perfect balance of flavors and textures .. more adventurous vegetable and meat or seafood varieties, each bite was a delight.
Apart from the those, the menu boasted an array of other enticing dishes. The rice was soft and bursting with flavorful fillings. The shrimps were cooked to perfection and complemented by savory sauces too . The stir-fried dishes were aromatic and packed with authentic flavors, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs.
The ambiance at Din Tai Fung was inviting and lively, with a modern yet comfortable decor. The restaurant was spacious, allowing for a pleasant dining experience without feeling crowded. The open kitchen concept added to the overall appeal, as we could observe the skilled chefs working their magic. . Given the restaurant's popularity, there was no issues in securing a table . However, I must emphasize that the food and service made it a worthwhile experience.
In conclusion, dining at Din Tai Fung in Dubai Mall was a fantastic experience. The exceptional service, delectable food, and inviting ambiance combined to create an unforgettable meal. If you appreciate Taiwanese cuisine and are looking for an excellent dining option in Dubai, I highly recommend giving Din Tai...
Read moreMy folks who ate at this place in Seattle spoke highly of this place. We planned to have a take at the Dubai Mall branch. The place is spacious and if you get here early can find few seats overlooking fountain.
We ordered chicken hot and sour soup. It didn’t impressed it was like any other ordinary soup. The bowl looks small and the soup bowls are even smaller (which are actually for dipping the baos in sauce but we used for soup) however somehow you feel full.
The next in line was the spicy stir fried mangolian beef strips and oh man this is a show stealer. Again the quantity looked so small but even that is so fulfilling. The thing you’ll immediately realize is the high quality and freshness of the ingredients. The dish is brought at table covered and it was really piping hot. The veggies within had a real crunch even when these were stir fried. Beef was also very good quality but the game is in the way it was prepared. Very delicious and one thing you’ll immediately realize that it has no MSG. With white sticky rice it tastes phenomenal though plain white rice is AED 13 which is on the higher side.
We ordered shrimp and chicken wontons in schezuan sauce but realized that if you go to PF Changs so often it’s difficult to orient yourself for other tasting of schezuan sauce. Wasn’t impressed.
The other thing which kinds of put me off is the non flexibility and limited menu. You may not be having choices plus the staff cannot have chefs put any extra sauce or don’t have peanuts on side. Also it’s a very basic setup when comes to cutlery. Small white plates no dinner matts and you’ve to ask for fork. It’s ok with me if I’m not able to use chopsticks very well.
Will return to try their other specialities to...
