Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori — Restaurant in Dubai

Gold Fish, nestled in the Galleria Mall in Jumeirah, offers a delightful culinary experience for sushi lovers. During my visit, I sampled a couple of dishes that I usually order, each showcasing the restaurant's commitment to quality and freshness.

The Yellowtail Carpaccio was a fantastic starter, earning an 8.5 out of 10. The fish was fresh, and the dish like always was beautifully presented, balancing flavors with finesse.

Next, I enjoyed the Salmon Nigiri, which I rate 9 out of 10. I ordered two servings at once, each order coming with two pieces. The salmon was consistently tender and flavorful, with a slight smoky taste from the torching I have requested, living up to my high expectations from previous visits.

The highlight of my meal was the Otoro Nigiri, rated 9 out of 10. I had two orders, and while the first two servings were slightly disappointing—feeling more like Chu Toro or even Akami—the staff quickly rectified the issue. After mentioning the lack of fattiness to the waiter, he offered a replacement without hesitation. The second serving was sublime, capturing the rich, buttery texture that Otoro is known for.

The ambiance at Gold Fish is nice and lively, creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the dining experience. The service was very good, with attentive staff who were quick to address any concerns and ensure a pleasant meal.

Overall, Gold Fish at Galleria Mall is a fantastic spot for sushi enthusiasts, offering high-quality dishes and exceptional service. I am a kind of person who doesn't mind to pay a lot of money for little food if the food is good. So, its not all about the portion with me. Its all about the taste. Sadly, Goldfish Sushi in Dubai is all about the money and nothing about the taste. I was recommended to go as it was "the place to go" but sadly, it was not all that, it was actually less than I had hoped for when I went there, and here is why:

Their Nigiri was OK, but could hardly taste the fish for the sauce they used. yes, it was a yummy sauce, but sushi is all about the taste of the fish and the sauce is to enhance that taste, not overwhelm it. Spicy salmon roll was more sauce than salmon. Basically spicy rice wrapped in seaweed. Wagyu Foie Gras slider was overtly greasy but yummy. Australian 9+ : Basically "The meat on the stick". two tiny pieces of Australian wagyu as thin as a sheet on a stick with next to no flavor at all. BUT worst of all, the Shrimp noodles!!!! Ramen noodles (probably from a packet), LOTS of oil with chili pepper flakes, and 4 small shrimps. Absolutely tasteless unless you like the taste of oil. Zero flavor. To top it off, I asked if they have local water, and the waiter brought us Acqua Panna (which they charged 30dhs for). I told him this is imported water, do you have local water, and he said their local water is only the tap. Who hires these people?!!!!!!

I was told one of the people from 3fils has opened this place, but it seems they completely missed the boat. They copied most everything from 3fils, except the taste.

Overall, I was glad I went so I could see for myself that the place is highly overrated and the food is basically below average...

Hands down one of the best Japanese dining experiences in Dubai! @itsyoursay here – and I had the pleasure of visiting Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori, and every single dish was a hit.

🥢 Mushroom Claypot Rice – Absolutely phenomenal! The earthy umami from the mushrooms combined with the crispy garlic and spring onions made this dish incredibly comforting and flavorful. Easily one of the best claypots I’ve had.

🍣 Spicy Salmon Maki – Fresh, spicy, and loaded with flavor. The sesame seeds added the perfect crunch and nuttiness to each bite.

🍤 Shrimp Tempura Sushi with Gochujang Sauce – A game changer! Crispy shrimp, spicy-sweet sauce, and that beautiful balance of texture – just wow.

🐟 Salmon Carpaccio – This is exactly what I came for. Delicate, fresh slices of salmon drenched in a citrusy, savory sauce – pure melt-in-your-mouth magic.

🐠 Yellowtail Carpaccio – Perfectly marinated, beautifully plated, and topped with a fresh slice of lime. It was as refreshing as it was flavorful.

📋 The menu is diverse, modern, and creative – offering everything from classic nigiri to unique mains like lamb skewers and miso corn. The ambiance is chic yet welcoming, and the service was top-notch.
