Read moreThis restaurant used to be Suq in the Four Seasons, and it has been upgraded to Jou Jou. I went for a Sunday champagne brunch and really enjoyed it
They have done a very good job with the restaurant fit-out and presentation of food. It is immaculately presented with great attention to detail.
My only complaint (and this is the same complaint I had with Suq) is that the Four Seasons must either have learning difficulties, or the chef is simply dismissive, because there are no main course options for vegetarians. Yes, we do exist, and we do pay for brunches.
To be fair there was a pesto pasta, but 'meh'. Compared to the mountains of meat and fish (if that's your thing) it was clear that no thought whatsoever went into main courses for vegetarians. Plenty of cold salad though.
Also, they have upgraded the champagne from Laurent Perrier, to Perrier Jouet, which is a very nice bubbly. Be aware though, the champagne is not unlimited. They allocate you only one bottle per couple, which was ok for me, but this is not an all you can drink offer. And with an increase of 250 Dirham's to upgrade to the champagne package, they are recovering 100% of the wholesale price of the champers, so it seems a little stingy.
Anyway, the atmosphere is wonderful, which is why I go (despite paying 800 Dirham's for some salad), and the saxophonist and singer were very good.
I'm giving Jou Jou 4 out of 5 stars only because the Four Seasons is deaf to the existence of vegetarians who might like a hot main course with their buffet (one that's not boring pasta [honestly Mediterranean food has soooooo many veggie dishes]). If you are not vegetarian then don't let this put you off, it's a lovely place to...
Read moreThe restaurant offers a Mediterranean-inspired dining experience, capturing the essence of coastal elegance and vibrant flavors.
I can praised the thoughtfully curated menu, which features dishes such as octopus carpaccio with espelette pepper vinaigrette, lobster mafalde pasta with Atlantic lobster and blue crab claw, and a winter truffle risotto with seasonal sautéed mushrooms. The sharing plates, like the 1.5-kilogram mussel pot of moules marinière and the Wagyu tomahawk served with black pepper jus, have also been highlighted as standout options.
The ambiance of Jou Jou Brasserie is effortlessly elegant, blending the relaxed charm of a coastal escape with the refined sophistication of French-Mediterranean design. The interior, designed by award-winning architect Tristan Du Plessis, features modern boutique lighting, luxurious decoration, and large windows overlooking lush foliage, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
In addition to its regular dining options, Jou Jou Brasserie offers a Weekend Brunch that has been well-received. The brunch features a culinary celebration of Mediterranean and international flavors, live music, and refined indulgence. I enjoyed an impressive display of fresh seafood, an Arabic station with delightful mezze spreads, live cooking stations, and a selection of desserts curated by award-winning Senior Executive Pastry Chef...
