A Taste of Palestine in the Heart of Dubai – Mama’esh Business Bay
Nestled in a quiet place at Business Bay, Mama’esh stands out as a warm and authentic Palestinian culinary gem. From the moment you step inside, the aroma of freshly baked manakeesh and slow-cooked dishes transports you straight to the Levant.
During my recent visit, I indulged in their Fatera with sujuk and cheese, a perfect marriage of rich, spiced sausage and creamy cheese and pickles, wrapped in a perfectly baked, golden crust. Every bite carried the essence of homemade comfort with a bold Palestinian twist.
But the real standout was the Eggplant Rummaneya, a lesser-known dish that deserves far more fame. The smoky softness of eggplant balanced with the tang of pomegranate molasses and earthy spices made for a deeply satisfying, soulful dish. It’s the kind of flavor that lingers in memory – nostalgic, layered, and unmistakably Levantine.
Service was warm, zakaria and Karin were attentive, and genuinely hospitable, reflecting the very spirit of the cuisine they serve. The setting, while casual, is thoughtfully decorated and offers a cozy, inviting atmosphere perfect for both solo diners and groups.
If you’re in Dubai and craving something real, heartfelt, and rooted in tradition, Mama’esh is more than a meal, it’s an experience. Highly...
Read moreThis is a very special little place. The five stars is only a small reflection on how great this place is. Allow me to share specifics:
Hard working friendly people. I have been to few places who were more polite to me than they.
Great tasty food at great prices. I ate the tomato and meat pan for lunch. It’s a steal at 29 AED. I couldn’t finish all 4 breads that accompanied the entree. In fact, I probably should have stopped at 2.
Water is free. First time in Dubai. And it was cold, refreshing, and tasted GOOD. I was also offered it when I was waiting for my takeout order.
Free WiFi. Wonderful. Easy to pass the time.
Great view outside, next to the canal. Would have loved to enjoy it more if the guy next table didn’t start smoking. Flies were also beginning to be a problem before I moved indoors to enjoy the AC.
Incredible service. During my first visit, they accommodated a customer’s request to charge his phone without hesitation. I don’t think I’ve seen that ANYWHERE. Next, when I came back for a takeout order for my family, they placed multiple packaged utensils and plates for my family to enjoy.
As if there were any doubt, this is my go-to destination in the area. I had the pleasure of eating my last three meals here and look forward to more when I come back...
Read moreMamaesh is a 10/10: rich, nutritious food that really fills you. I went there around 15 times during this trip to Dubai and as you can tell, it became my go to. Not once did I get up and feel like I had eaten the wrong thing. Here’s everything I tried over the course of my visits: Nablusi Qudsiya Lamb Sajji Tahini Kofta Labaneh Plate Fattoush Salad Halloumi Fatayer Cheese & Muhammarah Manesh
Keep in mind that all their dishes are rich in good fat (mostly Palestinian olive oil). So while they may look small at first glance, they’re pretty filling. Just about everything comes with fresh flat bread. Think rotti or chappati, but comes out of a clay oven (I think?)
The staff has always been warm and welcoming. Of course, the seating space is a little constrained so sometimes the staff has to juggle - that’s not really their fault, it’s often just filled to the brim at specific times through out the day.
I also noticed a lot of regular customers. If anything it made me happy that there’s real data to prove that Mamaesh does indeed deliver quality.
For two people, get 3 dishes to share. Expect the bill for 3 dishes to be between 80-100 AED. That’s approx $22 to $27 for two people. Given the quality, the...
