Set Alsham Shawarma & Bistro is the kind of place that reminds you why small, family-run restaurants often steal the show. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted not just with the rich, mouthwatering aroma of spiced meats and grilled flatbreads—but also with genuine warmth from the team, especially the owner himself, who is almost always present and makes it a point to welcome guests personally.
The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy and lively, making it ideal for families or small gatherings. There's a clear sense that everything is done with care—from the way the tables are set to the thought that goes into every dish.
As for the food? It's a standout. Their shawarma is flavorful and perfectly balanced, with crisp edges and juicy interiors, wrapped in pillowy bread and garnished just right. Whether you're indulging in a classic chicken or beef wrap or sampling their mezze plates, everything tastes fresh, homemade, and full of pride. The service is attentive without being overbearing; the staff know their menu and treat you more like a guest than a customer.
Set Alsham is more than just a place to eat—it’s the kind of bistro where conversations stretch long over mint tea, where locals bring visiting relatives, and where new patrons quickly...
Read moreYou know how they say food served with love tastes the best? This bistro is the true embodiment of that.
Even at the busiest Jumeirah street, this family run eatery feels like a piece of home. The warmth and vibe (and cute logo) made us curious. From the minute we sat down, we experienced true Syrian homelike hospitality.
The 3amo (owner’s father) was the heart and soul of this place, without saying a word he won our hearts with his true care for customers. Mamdouh the owner is the kindest and a pleasure to speak to. Thank you for your hospitality btw ✨🙏🏻
Now the food. I was amazed how every single thing we tried tasted 10/10. What is this sorcery?! From the tea (never had tea this good btw!) to the shawarma, vine leaves, freekeh and yogurt - I’m actually wanting to come back again.
They make fresh sheep yogurt in house - which I could eat just by itself as a meal. The Saj bread for the shawarma made fresh in house (which I’m not usually a fan of, btw) won me over. And the freekeh felt like a hug to the soul, made in meat broth.
All in all, the warmth and homeliness and delicious food won me over. This is a go-to spot for me from today...

The gentleman ran up to me before i could even wave at him from my car. Very kind of him.
Had requested for chicken and beef Shawarma. Got billed for AED 36, which is quite unusual for curb side restaurants. Didnt mind paying. As i was excited to find out the reason.
Which in return was disappointing. The packing and presenting was poor and inconvenient. You dont put rolls/ wrap in a large paper bag!
Beef Shawarma tasted average to less than average. Quality of the bread could have been of a better choice. Or prepared properly. Beef was too chewy, felt like it needed to be cooked a little more.
Chicken Shawarma, again, tasted average to less than average. Quality of the bread could have been of a better choice. Or prepared properly.
