Meat Me There — Restaurant in Dubai

Meat Me There is a small burger joint at the picturesque The Souq at Fishing Harbour off Jumeirah Beach Road in Umm Suqeim. It has a minimalist wood and concrete interior and a to-die-for outdoor seating area overlooking the harbour’s cosy marina. Sadly, the outdoor area is all but unusable from now till October.

We were recommended the flagship Juicy Double which is basically a double pattied Meat Me Burger. Their black and white sesame freckled buns are cool but not nearly as tasty as the potato buns at Shake Shack or Pickl. My son, who is training and on a regimented diet, ordered his burger with a lettuce wrap rather than a bun at no extra cost. My first impression lasted till my last bite, too salty. But it wasn’t a savoury salty taste like Moylo's, She or Lads. This was just salty. I’d say this was a well-balanced, yet characterless and completely forgettable burger highlighted only by its good looks.

The fries tasted of onion (someone’s been frying everything in the same oil – hmm) and were unacceptably uneven in size, as if we were getting the end bits of the pack they came in.

The staff at Meat Me There were a friendly, cheerful bunch of guys who made up with their positive attitude for our disappointing burgers and fries. There’s too much competition in Dubai, especially on the Jumeirah strip, for you to be anything but excellent. Meat Me There is not at all bad but it’s nowhere near my top ten listers, five of which I have mentioned above.

We ordered the Meat Me Burgers, with regular and paprika fries. The food was good but nothing special. The service was not great. After sitting down outdoors (picnic tables only, not as comfortable), we were asked whether we want to order burgers by one of the waiters who then asked us to go inside to order as that's the only menu they have (no menus, no QR codes). The food was served to us on the table in a reasonable time. However, once we finished and the waitress cleared the table. I asked for extra wet wipes, she said yes sure and ignored us completely.
