Read moreThis was my first time enjoying raw food 3 weeks post-chemotherapy, and I wanted the experience to be truly special. We celebrated this milestone with my husband, our daughter, and our dear friends, who are like our second family in Dubai. TakaHisa has become our go-to restaurant for important occasions, and once again, it exceeded every expectation.
From the very beginning, the experience felt elevated. A few staff and managers welcomed us even before we entered, and we were ushered into a private glass room overlooking the Banyan Tree hotel pool. With the AC, we barely felt the Dubai summer heat. Our server, Ryu Sei, was outstanding, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely dedicated to making our evening special. Several managers also visited, including Ms. Marinell, who instantly connected with our daughter.
The food, as always, was spectacular, presentation over the top (in the best way) and quality so impeccable that I felt completely safe indulging, even after my recent treatments. Each dish brought a balance of freshness, artistry, and flavor:
• Nameko Mushroom Miso Soup – soothing with just the right touch of saltiness • Kimchi Jiggae – not traditionally Japanese, but the subtle spice awakened our appetite • Ozaki Beef Carpaccio with Caviar & Wasabi – so exquisite we ordered it twice, our forever favorite • Fugu Tezza – our first time eating puffer fish sashimi, it tasted clean, delicate flavor, and fresh • Ozaki Beef Dashimaki – savory and loved especially by our daughter • Wagyu Kushiyaki – so flavorful it didn’t even need the dip • Ozaki Beef Enoki Imo Roll – tender beef wrapped around earthy enoki mushrooms which make them the perfect match • Wagyu Dengaku – beef and cheese melting together in the most decadent way • Nigiri Sushi Platter – each piece a masterpiece, with the standout Otoro (fatty tuna) I didn’t even like tuna sashimi prior to this • To Roll (Uni Roll) – creamy, ocean-fresh uni that was simply divine • Unagi Foie Gras – I’m usually not an eel fan, but the crispy foie gras balanced it beautifully • Ozaki Beef Ramen – rich, layered broth simmered for 10 hours • Japanese Crab Risotto – an all-time favorite of mine, tbh this still lingers in the memory • Ozaki Beef Yamashi Fried Rice – so delicious our toddler almost finished it all by herself!
Desserts were the perfect finale: the TakaHisa Mont Blanc (my personal favorite), Matcha Tiramisu, Hoji Tea Basque Cheesecake, Lava Cake, plus Strawberry Shortcake and Hokkaido Milk Ice Cream for our daughter.
For drinks, my husband, and friends enjoyed the Super Star cocktail and the Sake Lychee Martini, while I opted for sparkling tea, which was unique and refreshing.
