Al Fresco — Restaurant in Aberdeen City

Updated: The most recent time we visited the food was not as great as the first and second visits had. The food was either too plane or had too much tomato taste at least for us personally. Considering that we still ordered at least one same dish from previous times it still went down in quality of taste overall for us. The starter of Arancini became extremely large and over filling that eating all is going make it difficult eating the main. As always the portion sizes were quite large. The service was also good, they checked on us. Unfortunately though the food quality wasn’t as great as before.

First visit: The place is amazing, the food is tasty. We ordered starters, main and dessert and everything was lovely. The risotto balls were amazing, usually easy to mess up but here, just amazing. The prices are reasonable, I would even dare say that they are cheap or cheaper than most other Italian places we have visited. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was outstanding, members of staff would check on us and see how we like the food, always smiling. Visited on workday for lunch, didn’t have booking, but no problem to accommodate. Order just main and dessert, glass of rosè. Didn’t had to wait too long for food to arrive. Risotto pescatoria was creamy and perfect al dente and seafood cooked ideal. Dessert was profiteroles with ice cream. Good coffee. Staff were friendly and taking care to see if I finished main and when dessert could be brought out. Good coffee. Portions are good size, it will fill you up. They have wide drinks card to choose from for white and red wines. I had a bit of wait to get my check, staff were busy, as it can get during lunch time, but maybe just had to ask for it as I finished. Will return again. Sought out this restaurant from reviews I'd read, was busy for a Wednesday which was a plus BUT what a disaster. So many dishes with chilli added? from an Italian restaurant I thought it was odd & not being a spicy fan it was an unwelcome addition to traditional dishes like risotto? i plumped for a "safe option" of lasagna but again surprised to find pork added, waited an age for the main to arrive but when it did it was swimming in grease, which dissolved into a gloopy mess, with gritty cheese or split sauce. it was disgusting & I didn't feel great after it.
