Arrived at the hotel, slightly early Thursday. Smiling faces in the reception. As I was early, they kept my luggage, while I looked at the city waiting for the room. When I got back, I checked in. Very little information provided so I assumed there was information in the room containing the likes of WiFi, gym location, things to see, possibility of room service, transport recommendations and more. Looked all over the room and checked television without success. Needed to ask reception when leaving the room. After returning home I received information that I apparently should have been informed that I had 10-15% food and beverage discount in the hotel bars/restaurants. First thing I noticed when entering the large room was a nice view of the city. Lots of windows and very quiet room was nice. Bed had a stain on the bed linen. The linen looked like it was clean otherwise, so likely blood stain or something similar. The bathroom was large but overdue of some maintenance. Mould inside and outside of the shower. Stains under the toilet. Did see one bug on the wall outside of the bathroom, hopefully it was only this one. One of the bulbs in the roof light started blinking after being on 1 min. Saturday, we went for a nice city walk just after early breakfast. Back at the room at approx. 4.30pm for relaxing before going out for dinner. Room had not been cleaned. Had to go down to the reception, ask if there was no housekeeping this day. Should have been cleaned, so we went out again while the room was cleaned. Breakfast was ok. Not a lot to choose from, but something for all. The hotel looked clean and maintained in the reception area. Always fresh apples at the desk. Checkout was easy. 15 min walk to the bus that takes you to...
Read moreOn day of arrival we had been offered an upgrade on our booking, so we accepted that and paid an extra £20. The room was on the 6th floor. We got in the room and it was average usual bed, TV, hanging rail which if you try to hang anything long it's impossible due to the kettle and stuff below. And also shelf at other side. We found our complimentary bath robes, these were squashes into a small basket. They had clearly been laundered multiple times as they were hard and the belts were all twisted. We had our room tidied when we were out but the teabags etc were not replenished and no dirty cups of glasses were taken away. On first night we went into the bar and I waited for a good 15 minutes until a receptionist came and said the bar person would just be a minute. My husband came down and he took over the waiting and eventually the bar person arrived whilst the receptionist was attempting to pour drinks. None of them knew how to pour a pint or know which wine I required. Each time the price was different as well, ranging from £13 down to £10.50 for same drinks each time. Anytime we went out or in there was no one on reception to complain to about issues. Most of the time it was like being in a badly run hostel. Also the mattress on the bed was all stained at the bottom corner and the double was two beds put together which caused a ridge right down the centre. On check out there is a bowl to leave your key cards in and again no one there to complain to. I have no idea what the extra £20 upgrade was for but it was 100% not worth it. I would not recommend staying here. Poor place to stay. Staff were friendly enough when...
Read moreShould have rated this hotel as high as 5 stars... Good, neat, tidy and comfy place with lovely breakfast and staff except for an extremely ignorant night night manager. Was lodged there for 2 nights (09 and 10/05/18) along with my 2 other co-directors. Got 2 lovely double rooms and was enjoying our stay. We came back to the hotel late on our last night with our 2 American friends to face a hotel manager (who also happens to be an ethnic minority) who pulled us aside, racially profiled us and started asking ridiculous questions even after we showed him our key cards. After some time, the manager knocked on the door to my room where I was alone with one of our guests and complained of noise from the low music I was playing on my mobile phone. I apologised and switched it off. My guest was disgusted and made a few comments after I had shut the door. The manager - probably by my door eavesdropping - knocked on the door again and asked me to leave the hotel along with my guest because she "just said something" about him. The manager even called the police to have my guest removed simply because he felt she was too opinionated (possibly not as politically correct as is the British way) and because he is "the manager". I think the hotel is perfect... but they have vicarious responsibilities for employing a person that if you are unlucky enough to encounter, he could ruin whatever good...
