The first few times I ever went to The Abercrombie Bar in Aberdeen, my experience was fairly positive - that's when a tall-ish person worked there who was really friendly. Unfortunately, from the last couple times I have gone there in recent months, that person hasn't been working there when I've been there as a customer, and normally there's one other staff person there (besides the manager) who has served me the last few times I have been there. This person, sadly, doesn't know how to come across in a welcoming manner. I won't go into detail about my last negative experience there, but will just say that this person has told me, from her own lips, that she just isn't a friendly person when I showed concern as to whether she was ok because she looked unhappy/miserable. I tried to come across nicely, but struggled to remain like that with her answer, yet at least I managed to avoid getting really upset. After that experience, I wrote a letter to the manager, giving my number in case she wanted to get in touch with me.
I haven't since heard anything from her (the manager). It would've been nice to have received some form of communication, even just an apology for me having been made to feel really uncomfortable, unwelcome and like I was in an unpleasant atmosphere. I didn't come across really rudely in the letter - just very direct, honest and perhaps a bit abrasive (understandably so). I still can't believe that the manager made an excuse for the unfriendly lady who served me, "Oh, she's been working since early this morning, so perhaps isn't in the best of moods". Uh, hello? You could very easily lose a customer by saying something like that (you've just lost me as one)! That still doesn't cut any ice with me! The lady who served me was unpleasant, insensitive and downright rude with her attitude! I didn't do anything wrong to deserve that either! As far as I am concerned, that whole situation was disgusting! The Abercrombie Bar website says the staff there like to uphold their tradition of creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere with good service. I think to myself, how laughable that is! And, this lady who served me has worked there for a long time, so should have more than enough experience by now to realise that every customer who enters or leaves The Abercrombie Bar should be made to feel welcome. After all, that is part of her job description!
Luckily, there is only one or two other places that I greatly dislike due to past rude behaviour of staff there. I am quite a sensitive person, so here's a warning to all you other sensitive people out there: Avoid The Abercrombie Bar like the plague! I cannot overstate...

My friends and I booked here for our Christmas night out for ‘Dining and Drinks’ at 5pm however at 6pm when we asked for the menu we were told the kitchen had closed at lunchtime. We had never been notified of this despite our booking confirmed 2 days before. We made the booking at least a month in advance.
When asked as this service was no longer being provided could we order externally we were told this would not be allowed and we could have 6 packets of crisps for 10 people…….. as they weren’t providing a service and this wasn’t being provided I was extremely confused as to why we...
Read moreUsed this bar on 2 occasions, got a lovely evening meal and noticed they do breakfast as well, as we were on holiday we went back in the morning and got 2 large breakfasts ( I mean Large) for £9.99 and their tea was 79p for as much as you want. This is actually better value than Wetherspoons..It is a nicer atmosphere and on both occasions we received excellent service from Cindy who made us feel very welcome and made time to have a chat and helped us out with local transport times. Don't walk by this pub...Pop in and give it a try, you will not be disappointed with the food...
