Holburn Bar — Restaurant in Aberdeen City

The service at this place was among the worst I have ever experienced. From the quality of the food to the attitude of the staff, it was an absolute disaster. My family and I chose this venue for our Christmas day celebration, considering that the food needed to be pre-ordered months in advance for them to ensure they had enough for the everyone's orders. However, upon arrival, we were informed that they had lost our reservation.

We were escorted to our table, only to be told that they had run out of sea bass due to multiple lost reservations and subsequent changes in orders. Despite one person at our table pre-ordering sea bass as their main dish, it was no longer available. We waited about 30 minutes before someone took our drink orders and another 10-15 minutes before the drinks were served.

An hour later, our starters arrived, but they were freezing cold and instead of the advertised bread rolls, we received brown bread. It took another hour for our main courses to be served, which were disappointingly cold, dry, and clearly not freshly prepared. The person who originally wanted sea bass ended up ordering steak, but the steak was incredibly tough and nearly inedible.

We complained about the quality of the food and were refunded only £50 out of the £250 we had already paid. Despite this, we decided to stay for dessert since we had already paid. However, after waiting an additional hour, only four out of the five desserts arrived, and all three chocolate brownies were missing the sauce.

Great pub. Friendly efficient service. Lots of choice of food. menus for vegans, vegetarians and kids. Always a great atmosphere, value for money and huge choice of drink. There is a pool table, darts, and bandit machines which are at a cordoned off section of the bar. I booked the function room upstairs for a birthday with 80 guests. The venue provided a vegan/ vegetarian hot and cold buffet that was enjoyed by everyone. The chef and manager liasied with us and pulled out all the stops to ensure that our requests were answered. The chef created a tasty, exciting vegan/veggie buffet, which many would have found difficult to do. Great value for money, central location, and parking. The dj was also organised alongside room at a very competitive price. The staff were very helpful and professional. Brogan and Travis (I think) were fantastic at the event.
