Union Cafe & Bistro — Restaurant in Aberdeen City

Had a nice little visit today, friendly staff with good customer service but unfortunately that's where the positives end, £12 per person for a cheap single small sausage tasted like cheap frozen everyday value with 2 over cooked bacon pieces, 2 small mushrooms cut into 2 making it look like more was a good touch, the half a cooked tomato was OK but the taste of the liquid coming from it was much to be desired if u like your toast toasted and not feeling like bread one side and dried out on the other you should probably mention it before ordering I guess. So unfortunately I would mark that meal for its portion size and quality down as an estimated £6-£8 no way should that have made it into double digits. Nice staff, but the the food prices are terrible for what you get. £12(online menu states £9.50) for a full breakfast gives 1x link sausage, 1x potato scone, 1x hash brown, beans, 1x rasher of bacon, 1x small plum tomato, 2xeggs, toast. I received about 3x cubes of mushrooms. The black pudding slice was about 2mm thick. The issue here is this is a premium price for less than supermarket grade breakfast items. The meat items were far less quality than halls or equivalent. It seemed that a few people had ordered the breakfast and the chef was rationing the items. Maybe i’m spoiled in Glasgow, but you’ll pay half the price for quality items like stormoway black pudding, butchers sausages, haggis and bacon sourdough bread, and a choice of how you want your eggs done. I took my Dad here for lunch, the table we were at was dirty and did not get wiped. Dad’s meal had bacon that was very dry and chewy. I ordered a scone which was not home made and not particularly fresh, a pot of tea with oat milk which I suspect was actually cow milk, a Coke, which never came, and a bowl of soup. The soup was tasteless and barely warm, not edible. When I paid the I let the staff member know that the soup was tasteless and the come never came, I asked if he had tasted the soup, he evaded the question and said he would let the chef know. In my opinion a restaurant really shouldn’t charge for something that was unsatisfactory to the customer. This cafe needs a good clean and the staff need to find a way to take pride...
