1st day of All you Can Eat Menu, fantastic price at £29.95 and no service charge. Today we have received the highest level of services from Head of Bar and Manager, professional, friendly and attentive. Cocktails were perfectly made and presented, and served by the best bar manager with all the skill and knowledge reminding of Trader's Vic at Hilton back in the 90s. And there is a happy hour menu, cocktails at £6.95 at specific hours, think it is 12 to 7pm, a must try. For food, they are generally larger portion than other competitors, we had 15 dishes today between the 2 of us, works out £4 per plate, fantastic value for money. Starters were all good and beautiful presented, all freshly cooked. Just 1 criticism, we both found the main course dishes were slightly over seasoned and salty. Perhaps it's down to the buffet dishes are now much smaller than the normal A la Carte menu in size, note to chef to taste their food routinely. Deco and furnitures are all impressive, love all the wall paintings and lighting's, definitely a good to go place for any special occasion or gathering. Highly recommended.

I was really looking forward to trying this new Chinese restaurant, but left feeling disappointed. On the plus side, the decor is lovely, the restaurant is spacious and roomy and the staff are helpful and cheerful. But: if you expect diners to use chopsticks then you really, really have to provide bowls to eat from. The wine list should offer more than just a couple of bottles of white (one of which was an odd tasting Portuguese). Our shared starter of crispy duck was ok, a bit salty, and to be authentic should have been shredded at the table. My prawns were a bit dry and overcooked and my wife's beef in black bean sauce was tough, chewy and oddly sweet tasting. The bill, inc. service was just over £100. I'd expect something a bit better for that. I really hope this restaurant makes a few improvements to the food - it could be great and I look forward to trying it again sometime.

Quite disappointed with this order, ordered from deliveroo (normally go to my local) but tried something different and “looked nice” premium prices but PREMIUM food?! Absolutely not!! Spent £46.59 for one person normaly comes to £28 from local Chinese (that is where I’ll be sticking to) Where do I start? Crispy shredded beef is real soggy no crisp to it what so ever! The beef with asparagus may as well be called beef stir fry?! Mushrooms and carrot?! Where was this on the description?! Prawn crackers are half filled with Thai crackers did not order this! Chips undercooked?! If you think to your self I’ll try this out… don’t bother! Keep to your local extreme prices and poor quality food!! Oh and portions are bigger locally!! This place needs to sort it out!

I am not one to write reviews but we were disappointed and will put that down to 2nd day teething issues.

We were met warmly and were shown to our table but the head waiter ushered us away from the table we were supposed to have, which caused confusion with the other staff which was odd. The table they tried to put us on had a family with very you children so didn’t fancy that so requested the table that we were meant to have but the head waiter seemed to have an issue with it.

Anyway things kind of went to plan after that, our waitress was lovely, and the cocktail guy was awesome, clearly knew his stuff and served up some really good drinks. Just as well, as cocktails were £15 to £21 so they had to be good.

At one point the head waiter barged in on our conversation trying to promote his wine that he wanted to sell at £42 a bottle which was bang average.

The food came that was also bang average and quite small portions. Mine was just about warm enough but was so hungry I couldn’t be bothered to complain. This was the same experience with our friends we were with too.

The place was chaos and the change of shift staff came in, and they didn’t seem to have much of a clue, didn’t have much direction, and they didn’t seem at all happy to be there.

If you are charging these prices in Shoreham or even Brighton, the service, food and drinks has to be exceptional, sadly this wasn’t the case. It seems much more staff training is required (obvs not the Barman or our waitress), the food needs to be hot and much more improved.

We will go back but maybe in a couple months. It could be amazing...

Who would have thought Shoreham-by-Sea could be such a delightful culinary gem? Certainly not me—until now! Last Friday marked my first-ever visit to Shoreham, and we had the pleasure of dining at The Funky Dragon. Spoiler: it was an absolute blast.

From the get-go, the team made us feel welcome, even managing to squeeze us in last minute on a very busy evening. (Shoutout to them for tolerating my slightly tipsy antics, including repeatedly asking, “Are you Funky?”) Drinks were flowing quickly, and the atmosphere was electric, with lively banter and laughter filling the room.

We opted for the set menu, which ticked all the right boxes. The Aromatic Duck was a standout—rich, crispy, and full of flavor. We also added Singapore Noodles and asked for extra spice. They nailed it! Each bite was a fiery burst of deliciousness. The mixed starter platter was equally impressive, a medley of bold flavors that left us raving.

To top it all off, we noticed a cocktail maestro crafting martinis tableside—how could we resist? Naturally, we ordered two, and what an experience it was! Watching the mixologist in action added a fun, interactive element, and the martinis were exquisite—worth every penny.

I’m honestly baffled by the current 3.5-star average rating. It doesn’t do this place justice. From the buzzing atmosphere to the stellar food and cocktails, everything was top-notch. I’ll be returning with anyone and everyone I can convince.

Are you FUNKY?...

Visited for first time after hearing it had opened. Had there been a menu outside to look at we would not have gone in. Very overpriced. The prawn toast starter was extortionate for two triangles. The crispy duck was good but not enough sauce. I asked if the curries were very spicy but was told they would make it mild. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it so had to send it back. The man from the kitchen said there's only one sauce so it was never going to be made mild. So I was given lemon chicken instead. The But even this dish was far too lemony. You'd be hard pushed to eat this dish even though I normally don't mind lemon chicken. It's not what I would order in a restaurant and definitely not at their prices. My partners dish was okay although the prawns in the special rice appeared undercooked. The tables were sticky and they would have benefited from having a nice tablecloth on them with perhaps a candle/table light. These are the things one would expect from the menu prices. If they are going to keep their high prices they need to up the ante quite a lot to compete with other more reasonably priced restaurants where we have...
