This was a regular go-to place for me, so-much-so that my friend used to joke about my obsession with Yans. Tonight that changed. I always get the same thing, Cantonese pork and a portion of soft noodles, which comes to around £8.70, which is the correct price on the menu. Tonight (Sunday night) the usual young lad on the desk must have been off and I basically got ripped off by the old woman. She charged me £10.70 for the two items. I'm not an argumentative person so I just paid. I wish I hadn't now, I figure most of the kitchen staff must be off on a Sunday too because the quality of the food was terrible. I have spent a lot of money in there in the past, I will never be...
Read moreThe worst Chinese we've ever eaten!! Staying in Alnwick for a few days and thought we'd try the best rated Chinese, how sadly mistaken we were. Ribs were tough little riblets- not ribs, boiled flavourless chicken in a watery unpleasant sauce, tasteless beef in apparently Szechuan sauce, soggy salt and pepper chips and the egg fried rice was boiled rice with a few stray bits of egg thrown in. The positives of this waste of money.... Free tasty prawn crackers which were the only element I ate. They originally charged us wrong which was resolved after receiving wrong order... Probably best to consider this review your warning for severe food...
Read moreI do not understand the rave reviews. I can honestly say this was the blandest and poorest quality Chinese meal I have ever had. The duck was so tough, the chow mein dry. We did the decent thing and complained to the chef who blamed the meat supplier. A lame excuse really. We paid the full bill (£25 for two) but felt we were short changed in many ways. The interior decor was also disappointing too. From the previous reviews we were expecting better things. All in all a very below average experience. We travelled over from Seahouses and wasted time and fuel. We will order a takeaway from the local...
