Great little place! Myself and my partner came by for a few drinks, and stayed for the food. Yum! My partner really seemed to enjoy the variety of beverages on tap, and I certainly enjoyed the cider. Although I was just a little disappointed there was only one cider on tap (but there were two in the fridge).
We were hungry, so gave the pizzas a try. Yum! The pineapple pizza, with pineapple soaked in vanilla rum, was a huge winner (this was a special). My partner had the devilled pizza and enjoyed it, too. The dough balls were absolutely loaded with pesto and were delicious! The staff are warm, friendly and could be seen quickly attending to cleaning tables and carrying away empty glasses. They run a tight ship!
The place itself is steeped in history, having been an old turbine hall that generated power for the nearby castle. I love that they've shown off the venue's history with chalkboards and pictures of what once was. As the building is older, it is a little bit draughty, but it is worth remembering that we visited at the end of March.
I love the whole ethos of the brewery; in a world that is so divided, it is important we stand for protecting what we have! It's a small detail, but I do love the coat of arms of the brewery. And the toiletries by the toilets were a really nice touch.
Thanks,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in today to have some food and drinks, as I hadn't come for a few months to find a completely over turned menu that shocked me for all the bad reasons. The food was terrible, I ordered a pepperoni pizza that left me disappointed, it was greasy and horrible. Not to mention the increase of the price. Which I wouldn't mind if the quality matched the price. it's sad to see the quality of the food drop, whilst the price has gone up, since i used to come here quite frequently a few months ago. Its also a shame to see all the super fun desserts being gone from the menu being replaced by a super expensive nutella pizza and gelatto. On top of the food being subpar the chef also began yelling at his staff whilst customers were having food really dampening the mood for us this evening.
Apart from the issues mentioned above the rest was great, the serving staff was super friendly and created a really nice environment and drinks were still great and refreshing, these honestly being only reason this review isn't a 1 star. Really big shame since this used to be such a great spot to come and have good food and drinks away from the busy high street.
Honestly after today I'm not sure...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCame upon this place after visiting the castle and hearing rave reviews about it. The Fauna Tap Room is the perfect place for a post-castle, post-walk, post-lunch, post-dinner, post-waking up pint. We were lucky to get here just before happy hour (however, we both would have been more than happy to pay full price given the quality) on a very, VERY sunny Friday April afternoon and gorged on some beautifully made beers (a huge selection of brews made a stoneās throw from where theyāre serving it) and some equally impressive pizza slices whose descriptions alone will make your mouth water. We travelled from Portsmouth to be here, and weāll be back with leagues of friends for more sun drenched relaxation. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome and making a pair of visitors feel like a pair...
