I don’t write bad reviews lightly as I work in hospitality myself and understand the stresses of the job all too well. While Jonny’s is a much bigger establishment than what I work in, we visited on such a quiet lunchtime today that I couldn’t in any way call it a rush. On our walk into and out of the place I counted about 8-9 tables MAXIMUM so I couldn’t understand why the service was so poor and lacking.
The service by the girls themselves was fine, no complaints there. Everyone was polite and friendly. This is why I didn’t voice my complaints at the time as I know it is not specifically their fault individually, but perhaps more in their training as a whole.
We ordered a burger and a salad. Drinks arrived very timely but we waited almost 40 minutes to receive our food (which yes, is WAY too long for an average of ~10 tables filled in the entire place). 2 tables that came in and seated after us received their food before we did. After about the 30 minute mark we could see the burger was ready and waiting as we were seated in the sun room and had view of the kitchen hatch. It took another 5 minutes before the salad was ready, at which the kitchen rang the service bell. We didn’t see a single member of floor staff for another 10 minutes even pass by the kitchen hatch despite the bell being rung. I was literally debating just going up there myself and grabbing our food instead of watching it sit there. It was only after the kitchen rung the bell impatiently 4 more times AND called out to a passing floor person to pick the food up (which was met with an “I’ll be right back” before disappearing again) did a different floor girl finally come up and bring our food to us. We didn’t receive any apology about the wait despite it being obvious we could see and were watching the whole situation the entire time.
I also have to add; £15 for a burger that DOESNT come with fries is honestly atrocious.
Again, I work in hospitality myself, where I often run floor and food, so I get it. I would expect this kind of delay in a really busy lunch rush. However there was no rush in sight. 3 other tables in the entire sunroom were filled, 2 of them groups of 2. I honestly could not see any reason for this kind of lack of response from the floor staff to running food to tables. I’ve been in the middle of rushes where food service is slammed, and it is hammered into us to never let food sit in the kitchen for more than 2 minutes MAX. This was over 10 minutes, in full view of us!
The food itself was good. Not sure the quality was worth the price. But it seems like the floor team need some serious retraining on priorities and urgency, especially when customers are in full view of their food sat there, with absolutely no one being interested in running it for...
Read moreAs we entered there where two of what I assumed where mangers didn’t greet us I had to approach them and one said I’m busy but we have space give me one second. Which I thought was a bit of a weird way to greet your guests, then we got served quite promptly the first weird things was the milkshake was room temperature which made it not very enjoyable to drink.
I ordered the California smash patty burger which has two smash patties and you could double up and have two more smash pattys but only received one more patty. The server explained that the normal patties are divided in to two and smashed which they didn’t do that for the other patty although the patties all looked similar size.
I didn’t want to cause a scene with the waiter who was not the friendliest and wasn’t apologetic after they had made a mistake, regardless of that little mix up there was only one strip of streaky bacon which was not well rendered in fact looked anemic , a small amount of the gochujan mayo and a small amount of cheese and for £18 for a burger with no sides I would definitely not recommend, my partner got a cheesy one burger that had a small amount of blue cheese with no extras for £14 for a single burger which was underwhelming.
If you are charging gourmet burger prices I believe you should be either be generous with topping or the sides but just felt a bit stingy for pretty average burgers .We also got a Mac and cheese that was ridiculously sweet lucky it was for a child who didn’t mind and the star of the show where the dirty fries with a generous amount of cheese rendered bacon bits and a pleasant burger sauce. I would not be going back there as the overall experience was not great a few mistakes can be forgiven but they where...
Read moreYesterday 24.02.25 .The two "mother in laws" and my dog stopped in Jonny's for lunch. The outside looks warm and welcoming. Inside also offers a plethora of choices in seating options. It all looked & feels very inviting. A lovely server, called "Lucy", greeted us with a warm smile and asked if we were there for food, and we said yes. She made sure we were seated comfortably and gave us menus. The choice was brilliant. On the tables was a small sign advertising "homemade lemonade", so for drinks we asked for two of those. Lucy brought those over and they gave us time to choose lunch. The lemonade was superb! 👌. We both chose baked potato with coronation chicken. Our wait wasn't too long before she delivered two plates of fluffy baked potatoes with coronation chicken. As someone who has had my gallbladder removed, I was concerned that it would be dripping in butter, or the sauce too creamy. It wasn't. It was perfectly cooked, and the coronation chicken was perfectly seasoned. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed it. The food is all homemade, which is wonderful to find. The atmosphere was fabulous. Lucy was an absolute star 🌟. So we will be back for certain. Definitely worth a visit. My dog was well behaved and as long as your dog is well behaved they are welcomed. Well done to the owners,...
