Have known this cafe for many years. It's a lovely setting and a pretty building (folly) Today after a beautiful walk across Arundel Park we stopped for a cup of tea. I didn't order food as in the past it's not been good and the smell of stale cooking oil coming out over the outside seating area was off putting. I ordered pot of tea for two and the woman serving quickly and efficiently put everything on the tray and even gave me another big pot of hot water. I asked for scone and butter and tho busy she asked would I like it warmed up. I was very impressed with her cheerful friendly manner and how she showed how things should be done. She also came out to clear outside tables promptly and even bent down to pick up napkins etc. that had fallen under the table. If only every cafe could have staff like her! Based on today's experience I would be happy to try lunch there again. Company should hold onto this person. Sadly I didn't get her...
Read moreI am working as a support worker and today I supported some people to have a nice meal in this cafe. One of the waitress who was not too polite with us tried to get us to hurry up. We tried to order as quickly as possible but of course it took some time (about 5 minutes) for 6 people. They gave me a bucket of water, nothing else and told me I have to clean it for myself, because they are working with food (?). I don't want to put my clients into uncomfortable situation. The food was very good, the view is amazing but we had bad experience with the service...
Read moreCame here for a lunch with 2 friends on a Friday afternoon. The weather was lovely and there were a few people milling around the lake feeding the ducks. We have reserved a table as you never know how busy places are going to be but it looked like we didn't need to. If you don't like flappy birds this is probably not the place for you but I loved. We ordered a variety of yumminess. One friend had the Welsh Rarebit with a little bottle of wine, another had a cream tea and some wine and I had some halloumi fries, a wine and a cherry scone. All were delicious. The cream was a bit overwhipped maybe, but everything else was spot on. The halloumi fries were absolutely delicious. Could've eaten them all day! They had some magic sauce and pomegranate seeds and chili flakes and yep awesome. Total bill came to around...
