Difficult one to review this. I used the Uber Eats app (with £10 off over £15 spend voucher) to order midweek. The order arrived earlier than the estimated time, so no issue there (as I see others have experienced). I had the Old English Burger, onion rings & BBQ sauce and the quality was very good (although not quite as warm as I'd have liked). Instead of paying £15.50 (+ £2.75 delivery), it was £8.25 with the voucher, which is a very reasonable price. So far, decent, but again, without the voucher, overpriced. It is after all, just a burger and in my opinion, certainly not worth the full price of £10.50 (+ £4 for onion rings, £1 BBQ sauce & £2.75 delivery charge). By comparison, I could get a curry, poppadoms & onion bhaji for just over £15 (including delivery) and that's much more difficult to prepare than this.
I ordered again with my housemate the following weekend (again with voucher) and although the order arrived early again, the quality had taken a noticeable dip. Both our burgers were well overcooked, and clearly less care was taken in comparison to my initial order, probably due to higher weekend custom. No offence to them, but I don't see this as an excuse, it's really not that difficult to cook a beef patty. If you're running a business, especially delivery and charging a premium for it, then you need to keep the quality and service as high as possible, regardless to how many orders you're getting. That's the nature of this type of business and as a customer paying for food for convenience, it's something they have to accept. This is especially relevant in the current situation, where they are relying on deliveries to make money. It's not like I'm ordering a complicated dish here, it's essentially a "posh burger and chips" (something which could easily be cooked at home) and without the £10 voucher there's no way it's worth the premium price and I therefore wouldn't be persuaded to order without the discount.
I have therefore given 3 stars, based on service, quality and price. The service was good in terms of delivery and the burgers, when cooked properly are very nice, but they need to maintain quality, especially when related to their...
Read moreOrder number #8955B. Ordered at approximately 19:20 through uber eats to the Bnb in staying in, delivery eta of between 20:05 - 20:30. Happy days!
I rang the restaurant at approx 20:40 asking for an update, the reply was it was setting off soon so I said that's fine, so I waited. I called back at approx 21:20 to cancel my order but they refused, they claimed it was out for delivery however there was no mention of partial refund in way of compensation, staff member claimed it was uber eats fault for putting the wrong delivery times, ( I understand delivery times are guesses dependant on condition, traffic, business of restaurant, however the restaurant is only 18mins drive away. Rang back at approx 21:30, my food is now 8 minutes away now with an offer of 50% reduction which I'm still waiting to be processed. I asked if I can complain to the GM but she refused to let me escalate my complaint claiming it was uber eats fault for the delivery times being false, she wouldn't even give me her name. At 21:50 I ring for another update but they wouldn't answer my calls (5 in total) At 22:00 I finally get through where I am told that my food has been left on the doorstep of the BnB. I go outside and the doorstep is empty but the staff member is adamant because she has a photo of the food on the doorstep, she did not understand that the picture was not of the food in my hand. I had no missed calls or anything. The staff member was almost advising me of lying, all I wanted was my food. So it is now 22:20, I've spent over £23 on food that I ordered 3 hours ago which I haven't had, But I'm guessing someone somewhere got a free meal tonight, every cloud and all that... Not sure who is at fault but the customer service was shocking, might get to comment on the...
Read moreDefinitely the worst place to eat in Sudbury Visited this restaurant today and was seated very quickly and serve drinks within a few minutes which was great When it comes to ordering the food this is where it all changed Please be aware the halloumi fries are not halloumi fries they are mozzarella sticks despite the manager then going to take a photo of the box of frozen mozzarella sticks telling me the boxes halloumi fries so that must be what they are clearly these have been packaged wrong because they were not what I ordered Next thing my Partner ordered for main meal the chicken burger we specifically asked if the chicken was as we described real chicken rather than this processed shaped stuff the waitress assured us it was fresh chicken i’d let you get to pieces in the barn At a cost of almost £10 we were very surprised when just a chicken burger turned up with a very limp piece of lettuce no fries or anything else when we asked they said you didn’t order fries well for £10 we assumed they would be with it as my partner Temp into the burger she discovered it was too processed chicken goujons about the size of a McDonald’s chicken nugget. Awful food awful service and waitresses that do not have a clue about what they are serving the table behind us also sent feedback so clearly it wasn’t just ha unlucky day it appears nothing is fresh air it’s just all appears to be deep fried frozen Mass produced cash-and-carry food
After reading the management replies please don’t insult me by saying contact you directly to resolve I was in the restaurant and you didn’t want to resolve it then so I don’t pretend you’re trying to rectify something that you clearly have no intention of doing as I said avoid this...
