The Gainsborough Pub - Sudbury — Restaurant in Babergh

We have visited The Gainsborough tonight (13.06.2022) as we are visiting Sudbury from the West Midlands. The food was absolutely delicious, I had the Thai Green Curry which was bursting with flavour and so filling. The spice was just enough to give it a kick but wasn’t unpleasant or too spicy! My mom had the chicken supreme with new potatoes and asparagus. The potato’s were so tasty and slightly minted, chicken had lots of flavour and was very juicy. The pub clearly uses local fresh produce as the asparagus sprigs we’re huge and full of flavour.

The staff were very polite and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We choose a table and a lovely lady polished it up and provided menus and took a drinks order. The drinks were brought to our table quickly and the wait for food wasn’t too long. The waiter checked back on us to ensure everything was okay with our meals to which it was outstanding! The waiter provided us with pudding menus and although we were so tempted by the Eton Mess we were absolutely stuffed.

In the background there was a great atmosphere as the pub quiz was taking place. The quiz master was really funny for fun me and my mom had ago at answering the questions.

Really was less than average and not a good experience. To start with customer service left a lot to be desired. Tricky to get bar staff attention considering it was not a busy bar. First beer was flat. Second beer had to be repoured as it had a shot glass floating in it! we ordered burgers for dinner. No cutlery given with this had to wait a fair time to be given it and had to ask the bar staff. I ordered a halloumi burger with chilli jam. it came without the chilli jam and none of the burgers were served with gerkins/jalapeño and relish as stated on the menu. I asked for the chilli jam to be told there wasn't any. I did say it would have been nice to have been told this when ordering. The chips on one of the burgers were actually spilt over me when served, no offer to replace this portion at all just carried on serving. The burger buns were very hard. We did tell the waitress after we had eaten it was very less than average. and were told they would pass this to the chef! Very...

As a regular out eater I booked a table for 2:30 as the 2:00 slot I would have prefer was booked on arriving I had to wait for the table to be cleared that OK when cleared we were invited to the table 20 minutes later the waitress came and took our order and stated there would be a 45 minutes wait (if we had known this when e arrived we would not have stayed as I booked foe 2:30 not 3:4) when our meal arrived we were given 2 beef lunches when we wanted 1 beef and 1 chicken however the manager took back one meal and replaced with a chicken dinner we were both very disappointed with the meal the beef was so tough the knife wouldn't cut it (mind you the knife would cut the yorkshire pudding or even the roast potatoes) the beef was so tough you could have soled shoes with it we left not finishing our lunches the only gave 2 was for the service recieved if I was rating the meal only it...
