Had a rather abhorrent experience at this Starbucks today. I use their spaces a lot when i am out and about, including in my home town so that i can study and work. Being a student it helps to get away from the distractions at home. All establishment's that serve food and drink have to provide free tap water by law. This is what i asked for when approached by a member of staff after grabbing a table because i had all my study materials with me. However i was told to leave as i couldnt stay on the premises without paying for any of their products. Put simply - i was not allowed to drink free water, which i am entitled to by law, in their shop. I wonder if Doris the old age pensioner would have been treated the same and asked to leave? Or if a mother and her children were looking to get out of the heat but didnt have the cash to buy anything. Disgusting. Just from a brand competition perspective, costa are more than happy to serve you free water and let you stay in too, heaven forbid, think of their profit margins! I spend rather a lot in starbucks and so to be asked to leave because i hadnt bought anything on this occassion was farsicle. It wasnt as though the staff were rushed off their feet either for they outnumbered customers. Despite their over capacity they still didnt have time to clear the tables where flies were buzzing around old coffee cups and random fortune cookie and sweet wrappers were strewn across the table - you cant drink free tap water here but you can eat sweets brought in from outside; interesting approach starbucks. For workers, there are a few powerpoints but some are tapped up and others are in really obscure places; by all means plug in to those on the central column but your trailing wires are likely to be a trip hazard. Hmmm, lets ignore health and safety. All this typing has got me rather thirsty, if only i could grab a cold...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in today at 5pm to try the Xmas drinks which have pre started for card holders anyway as soon as you walk in it's an absolute mess with rubbish all over the floors tissues food was disgusting then you get the the front till bit there was barely any food and the few little bits they did have was a messy state nothing looked presentable and turned you away rather than make you want any! Ordered my salted brownie hot chocolate which did not look at all like the picture advertised on email and when I went to taste it just tasted like milk no toppings no chocolate cream nothing even the colour of the drink looked very milky rather than a brown chocolate colour which to add took 15mins to recieve even a customer before me complained to which the lady on till said "well were doing our best" then went behind coffee machines to start bad mouthing the customer! then get the the condiment bar which again is filthy and cluttered with rubbish there 3 people behind till area wasn't very busy anyway it should not get to the point to look like that which to conclude I will never go back in there again would much rather go out my way to a better Starbucks such as mayflower or festival and wait an extra week for the drink to be available than to visit this one again which is owned by 23.5 degrees. I then placed my order only to have my lid for my cup chucked back at me, I asked for my sandwich to be put in a bag for takeaway as I was going back to work upstairs in the hairdressers. I then proceeded to get it on a plate and when I asked if I could have it in a bag I was met with an eye roll and a huff; then on getting the bag it was thrown at me!!!! Iāve never had an experience like this at any Starbucks Iāve been to, I work in retail myself so I know how to handle customers and I know good customer service and this was one of the worst experiences Iāve had!!!!
