The Brew Shed — Restaurant in Bassetlaw

New to retford I decided to take my dad to a bar whilst my car was in the garage. Called in during the day and was welcomed into the bar by a barman and waitress that were happy and friendly. Sat outside in a beautiful beer garden overlooking the canal. My car was soon ready and we left. Got home mum finished work after an hour or so so decided to go out for food. Called back on the way into town and the same friendly faces greeted us with a couple of new additions again sat outside in the beer garden in the same seats. Mum tried a tropical cider that was amazing. We went on into town and had another few drinks before returning to the bar on the way back for food and another drink. Same friendly greeting from all staff and asked to be seated outside (which was full as we hadn't booked) we sat in the back and ordered food and an outside table was soon available and we was shown to our table outside. (The exact table we had sat at 2 times previously) we ordered food and within a reasonable time it arrived at our table. My burger (the special that was on that day) was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted and my mum said the fish and chips she ordered was amazing. Reasonably priced with a great set of staff. Will definitely be visiting...

Impressive in so many ways! I'd heard amazing things about the food, drink, atmosphere and friendliness of the Brew Shed, but it really does leave a great taste in the mouth!

I went with 3 others who all raved about their meals and drinks.

I had got in touch ahead of the meal, but Tom the Chef made an effort to come out to speak directly with me about any food sensitivities I have. Because of the various issues, it is really difficult to get a decent meal out, but Tom listened and came up with a brilliant meal for me. Oh the taste was FABULOUS! So full of flavour! The chicken was incredibly succulent too. This Chef knows his craft and he oozes food knowledge and passion for cooking amazing meals. Just LOOK at that basil under the halloumi! This meal is delicious. Ohh and the halloumi is the best I've had!

Honestly, this is the BEST meal I've had out in a long time. It looked great, it tasted incredible.

The drinks are excellent too.

The staff are all friendly, attentive and very nice.

Updated- Jan '25 - wed night - busy ! .. lovely beer as always. Food = Ribs + chips & HoiSin Burger + Fries ( yes, there is a difference!) Lovely, hot, tasty, fresh cooked food . Large portions. Good presentation.

Staff very helpful & pleasant ( as always) ..

Winner winner , Venison steak dinner .. Good selection of ciders as well. Staff working hard . Pleasant , happy.

Dec.'23 .. Still good beer. Friendly staff. Very Quiet 5th of Dec.

Oct '23. Still the place to be for a quiet beer or a choice from a plethora of Ciders, with friends.
