Do not book this restaurant on an occasion…eg Fathers Day

I had originally made a booking via the website. On the day it turned out we were going to be late for our booking. As it was fathers day and usually all restaurants are busy we phoned ahead and informed the restaurant we would be late out of courtesy. In the phone call we were told it was absolutely no problem our table was safe and they looked forward to seeing us.

We arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by a waiter. The restaurant was extremely busy and appeared to have very little tables left with people queuing up. We told the waiter we had booked a table he simply smiled and said no problem and we followed him to a table at the back of the restaurant.

The restaurant at this point was packed. Staff were running around all over the place clearly looking like they were under severe pressure.

The starters were pushed out quickly which were delicious…and we then waited 1 hour on the main…

The main course only arrived after we asked staff how much longer the wait would be and all of a sudden the food appeared. Our food appeared before other customers which had been waiting a considerable amount of time longer than us only because we asked for an ETA.

Overall, it was clearly apparent the restaurant was badly managed. Management had failed to stagger bookings on Fathers Day to allow the kitchen time to cook for each table. The restaurant had seated maybe over 150 plus people between opening and 18:00 which had clearly overwhelmed the kitchen.

On leaving the restaurant we asked for the bill. The young man behind the bar was clearly struggling with the volume of orders and was expressing it to colleagues. This young man was polite and trying his best to remain calm despite the influx of orders and work which was too much for one person. We approached and spoke to the manager on the above mentioned issues to which he had no care or desire to listen. We will never be back at this restaurant, not because of the food, but because of the bad management and greedy desire to seat as many tables as possible...

Very disappointed. We decided to get a takeaway for our choice as a special treat. The food took over an hour to arrive. This was a takeaway. We waited to only get our order that was missing some things. My husband phoned and explained politely that we were missing a starter and an extra portion of rice. The receipt showed we only had paid for what was delivered which was great but we still wanted our food. The manager was not helpful and kept saying we had ordered wrong when in fact we had not and the order was not took down right. We give in and decided no point in trying to explain this as the manager seemed in a hurry and the conversation felt rushed. He was also adamant it was not his fault. After opening the food to find it very cold we phoned again to say we were really not happy. My husbands starter was the only thing relatively warm so he had that after waiting so long for food. The manager wanted us to pack the food back up and he would get driver to come back however, it could be some time waiting on the driver. We decided we could drive over to leave the food in for reimbursement as we were very hungry at this point and didn't want to wait much longer. We explained the starter had been eaten. He had a good look at the food and mentioned this. We couldn't believe that this manager was behaving in such a rude manner. We had now wasted over an hour and a half after all of this and we had to then go get ourselves something to eat for dinner. We were reimbursed in the end by the manager giving us our money back after my husband asking for it. We are disappointed and hope the manager in future acts more professional and polite. We went here this evening for valentines day having booked over a week ago in advance. We were not aware it was only a valentines set menu being offered as it was not advertised anywhere so we were slightly disappointed as we wanted to try curries beyond the typical 6 dishes offered. We were seated very quickly in a nice area. We asked for two cocktails from the menu on our table and were told that cocktails were not on offer this evening. That's fair, it was quite busy, just unfortunate that they had cocktail menus on all the tables. We ordered two spirits and mixers, however unfortunately, only one spirit and two mixers arrived. Easy mistake so we didn't make a fuss. Starters were gorgeous. We were offered a drinks refill so I tried to reorder my missing spirit. It never arrived at any point during the rest of our sitting and our waitress was down a few times to the table. Mains were good but they weren't outstanding. Overall, the menu felt overpriced compared to their usual menu. Also disappointing that the menu offers tea or coffee as a fourth course which is never offered. We were offered a dessert menu for paid desserts instead. Overall, not a terrible experience, but could have been so much better...
