Me and my family booked the Chubby Cherub's new Lisburn Road restaurant and we really enjoyed it. The location is good and there are loads of tables. The actual decor and ambience is wonderful, the music used alongside the solid branding really makes this Italian restaurant stand out against its peers. We were very impressed that there is a full vegan menu with pizza and pasta dishes. We tried two of the vegan pizzas and both were very tasty. I would probably prefer less vegan cheese as I feel that it was quite overwhelming. This is more of personal pizza preference, so would be nice to see a cheeseless pizza in the vegan section. Other vegans may relish the chance at getting that cheesy pizza experience. The service was excellent, there are lots of staff on and they were consistently asking if we needed anything. Further to this we initially sat outside and as it got colder we wanted to move inside. This was no problem and the team were able to get us a booth. The team really went the extra mile. I can see the reviews are mixed regarding service but on our visit (9th of June) the staff were brilliant. Overall this is a great restaurant. It may not have the best Italian food in Belfast but I will definitely be back for the vegan menu and the fantastic atmosphere 😊

The best way to ensure that you have a good restaurant is simple. Great food and great staff. The fact that The Chubby Cherub has stunning decor and is spotlessly clean is also a bonus. We were visiting from Dublin and staying locally and wanted some Italian food. We definitely hit the jackpot, with Gina our host and Chloe our waitress going above and beyond for us. We ordered a garlic pizza bread to share for starters and it came with beautiful pesto. The base was light, chewy and crispy all at the same time. My wife ordered a lasagne, which is made using brisket and is known as 100 layer lasagne. The pasta sheets were so fresh and soft and the meat and sauce were divine together. I had Orzo pasta with prawns with crab and n’duja which I absolutely adored. Gina got the chef to add in some beautiful mussels also. I would happily eat this dish every day. My wife asked if they did Mocktails and Chloe immediately jumped into action and made her a gorgeous Pin Colada with no alcohol. Please please open a restaurant chain in Dublin as soon as possible. Thanks for making our stay in Belfast so enjoyable.

I give a full five star! Maybe I am not from Belfast hence I am not aware of the price point, but I thought the cost charged for the food and service was perfect and my boyfriend and I had a lovely lunch. I was amazed by the portion and the food was great. We had meatballs as our entrée too. It may not be the traditional Italian but that’s why it was so delicious- Italian with some British twist :). For example, I thought carbonara with chicken was quite unique, but I thought why not and it turned out to be great. I also got coffee cake for later (take away) and it was also very nice. I think it’s a little funny that a lot of reviews really liked the interior- I was a little held back with the bright chandeliers but nevertheless I can tell a lot of work has gone into this place.

At the start I would like to highlight the food. It was really nice!! I was surprised as I heard that this might not be the case…but it was very tasty and I enjoyed!

However the service was poor. I do not write reviews very often, but I hope this will actually help the management to train their staff a bit. At the start I received sticky menu, had to go and wash my hands while the lovely member of staff cleaned the menu from the top, but not inside as you open it. So I ended up with sticky hands again. We then waited thirsty for 15 minutes before someone else came to take an order. I would be used to order the drink at the start and then order the food.🤷🏻‍♀️ Everything was OK after, the food was delicious as mentioned above and service quite fast. Had my wine topped up by the lady who was a manager (judging by the uniform). Once we finished the main course we were asked if we would like a dessert. We were so stuffed we said no and just continued with our bottle of wine. And that was it. Since then no one arrived to ask us if we would like more drink etc. there were no more bookings after and the place was open for at least another hour. We sat there and were talking and eventually we thought we could order some dessert. But no one was coming. We were looking out for the staff for over 20 minutes but they were on another side of the restaurant and not coming to our side, or they were eating something behind the bar. After a long wait we decided to leave. We asked them to remove 10% service charge. We had to get up and go to pay to the bar as otherwise we would be sitting there until they close. After getting a bill we realised there were 3 items on the bill we never ordered. So they had to remove it and prepare another bill that we paid. Just as we were outside we realised we paid booking fee £10 per person that was supposed to be deducted from the bill. So we had to return back and ask for another £20 refund. A lot of pple probably forget about it as you pay for what is on the bill not thinking that you paid booking fee previoisly that is supposed to be refunded at the end.

Unfortunately, I will not be back…at least not anytime soon. The staff training is really important there…all the ladies were nice and smiling…also apologetic for any inconvenience, however that is not enough sometimes. I wish everyone all the best and hope others will have much better experience...

This was our first time visiting any of the chubby cherub restaurants in Belfast and we will NOT be back. We had dinner in the Lisburn road chubby cherub this evening and it was the worst experience we’ve ever had in any restaurant in Belfast. We waited over an hour for our starter after asking the waiter where it was and he had to confirm what we ordered again (and after it came they got mine wrong), this was after a few tables came in after us had already got their starter and just started their main course. After ordering our second drink it came 30 minutes after ordering and again after we chased it with a waiter. Our main course came, my husband couldn’t fault the food but my risotto was bland and a bit cold. Half way through our meal we were asked to move to a booth to accommodate a bigger table as there was about 15 of them and they were practically on top of us. After asking for the bill we had also noticed a 10% service charge had been added without letting us know!! I had asked for this to be removed and the waiter was very understanding of it. The organisation in the place is terrible to be honest and the service wasn’t the best. Even when we came in and left the restaurant there was no greeting or thanks for coming; just “have you got a booking.”

Wouldn’t recommend to anyone who wants a nice meal and wants their...

Tried over a 4 hour period to speak with someone about this issue before I reviewed but both restaurants did not answer the phone once..Good luck people with sorting a booking, a query about food or a bill etc etc. We visited the Lisburn Rd restaurant and had a soft drink and a coffee. On leaving I paid by card but immediately realised the bill seemed more than it should...over 7 pounds?!..We asked for a receipt but were unable to get one..not acceptable. We asked another staff member to clarify the cost of the 2 drinks and they said a vat charge of 1.20 pounds had been added. Seriously? When I look at a menu and see our drinks come to under 6 pounds that's what I expect to pay for them. I certainly don't expect an extra charge added on. When I buy these things from anywhere else I pay for what it says on a menu or blackboard etc as vat is usually included in the price displayed. I would seriously wonder what the bill therefore would had been if we had ordered lunch and more drinks. I find this very irregular and certainly not customer friendly. We left totally puzzled. As mentioned not one person answered from both restaurants a few days later to explain this practice to me. Check your bills and query something if it seems wrong. I felt overcharged with zero proper...
