What a fabulous place to have an intimate wedding reception for our son, Conor!! The food was absolutely stunning from start to finish and the service was exceptional. We were able to have the venue all to ourselves, which made the experience very special. Ox Cave staff were so polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Each course tasted exquisite and was paired with the most delicious wine that complimented the food perfectly. All of our guests with special dietary requirements were catered for with delicious alternatives: one vegetarian, one gluten-intolerant and one guest with multiple food intolerances, which must have been a real challenge. Another of our guests, who is a self-professed picky eater, told me, "It was the tastiest meal of my life," and, "I ate everything, which never usually happens!" Ox Cave is very minimalist in design. Clean walls & surfaces. They offer small plates, cheese boards & charcuterie. Lighting is subdued. Noise level is very low. The big glass windows look towards the river.

We started with two glasses of orange wine & gougere as we reviewed the menu. We opted for the halibut followed by the cheese plate. The halibut was very modest in size but it was prepared with care and the flavours were sublime. The cheese plate offered different taste profiles which we much enjoyed. During our meal we had a bottle of gruner.

Every time I come to Belfast I go to the OX Cave. I like to stay there for a few hours and enjoy the tasting menu. The service is exceptional and the manager, Mrs. Marta, has always proved to be very competent in proposing the right wines in combination with the food, revealing not only in-depth knowledge of the characteristics of the wines, but also of the menu offered.
