I hate writing bad reviews and only do when it's that bad, or I have to warn others with allergies and intolerances.
I have had to use an EpiPen when I was accidentally given a Whiskey because I am not simply gluten intolerant but am Celiac and Allergic to Wheat itself. I explained my allergens to the server and asked them to please do not use the jigger/measuring cup. It's not about getting extra It's about not getting sick. I even talk with them about creative ways to measure without using the jigger.
The server left the table and then spoke to her colleague loud enough for me to hear about "how difficult these people are".
The bartender brought our drink and I asked if he used the jigger. He said "yes but we rinsed it out". We got up, paid 21 pounds(which I shouldn't have), and left.
If you can't take a simple drink instruction seriously, I don't trust you to take my food seriously either. I spoke with the manager who defended the actions and said "I rinsed it out myself".
When I eat out, I know there is always a risk.
Follow direction, do your best, take me Seriously,...
ย ย ย Read moreOrdered the Belfast Ham. It came with gravy and creamy leek sauce. I queried if it was meant to have gravy with a creamy sauce? I was informed that is how it is served. I stated that it didnt say that on the menu. I was told that it did. I again said that was an unusual combination that I had never heard of or had before (I have worked bars and restaurants as well as managed them for 28 year). I also had already checked that this meal was suitable for me before ordering as I have an intolerance to wheat flour and gravy had not been mentioned. I was told this is one of the most popular dishes and it came with gravy. I said I will give it a go ...it was not nice together so removed the creamy leak sauce and ate it with the gravy only. I checked the menu and as I had stated no mention of gravy. I hate being lied too and lucky enough their gravy doesnt have wheat flour or I could have ended up ill for the next 3 days. Disappointed and annoyed to be blatently lied too especially with so many people with...
ย ย ย Read more"Suggested" Service Charge: They add a suggested Service Charge to your bill (this is not mentioned anywhere on the menu). The waitress brought it to my attention and said it could be removed. I would not have noticed had she not mentioned it, and I would have added an additional 15%-20% tip on top of it. I could easily see how the waitress drawing my attention to it could be innocently overlooked if they were busy. This is not America; stop demanding tips.
The food: The main courses were very good. However, the waffle ordered for dessert was awful. It had the texture of a stale cake and couldn't be eaten. I mentioned it to the waitress who said she would say it to the chef. There was no suggestion of removing it from my bill.
Overall, the experience was marred by their extortion tactics, and I will never set foot in this place again or...
