PizzaExpress — Restaurant in Belfast

So, first thing the staff are very good. Our server was great. Upon entry the place looked vibrant and not busy but people were there eating. However, asking for a table of 2 saw us banished right up to the very outside window corner where you would normally put screaming kids. We sat in a desert of nothing listing to canned music with poor lighting. The starters were ok, the prawn dish was light on prawns and heavy on tomatoes , the calimari was given the thumbs up. Onto the mains. No fries. Who doesn’t do fries. Why no fries. We ordered the polenta ( very London) fries. Tbh the pizzas when they arrived were tired looking. Sort of like when you reheat pizza the next day. They looked and tasted as if they had been cooked a few hours earlier then reheated. Now onto the polenta fries. Horrible, tasteless and looking around the restaurant there were plates of polenta fries untouched, sitting neglected by everyone, even kids. No tomato ketchup. If you’re going to serve those polenta fries at least do ketchup. I don’t want passata, I want ketchup. So overall, service was great but food wasn’t great. Using the o2 priority app makes it great value for money - a main course for just £5!

The kids menu is great and they have colouring packs to entertain the wee ‘uns - which I have been glad of!

This is sometimes a busy place and some seats are more comfortable than others so if you want the full back sofa style seating at the back of the restaurant (which is very limited) then I’d advise you to book in advance. My mother has a hidden disability so this was what we did on our last visit at the end of April as Bedford st didn’t have any suitable seating options free. I haven’t booked on any other occasion though and haven’t had a problem with getting seated/served.

Worth noting also that if you sign up to their mailing list / app you get offered a free bottle of Prosecco on your birthday - you do of course need to buy full price mains alongside this to avail of the birthday treat valid for a little before your birthday and...

Excellent pizza for a chain and very family friendly at this location. The menu is huge and while it mostly concentrates on pizza, there are some other choices including salad as well. Obviously the popular item is the pizza and there are a ton of choices. The spicy sausage one was excellent, especially with some additional chili oil.
