I came to Al Bader Restaurant in Ladypool road this Saturday 13th January 2024,
Me & my wife had high expectations from this place to be fear, unfortunately I can't say I'm satisfied with my visit at all, regarding prices starters were around 6-8£, chicken kidney was actually nice & tender, basboussa was bland and watery, nothing like is supposed to be.
Now regarding mains, my wife ordered the lamb shawarma which they cut it in slices and put it open in the plate so it looks like is more when in reality is the quarter of a kebab is a nice way to save money for the restaurant and make it look good on the plate but unfortunate for any customer to be fear.
Regarding the Lamb tajin, now bear in mind I'm Morrocan & the Morrocan tajin obviously is a traditional plate of food from my country.
The basics in the tajin or the pilars are the vegetables which are: carrot, onion, potato ( you can always ad olives or another vegetables which you like) Problem is one of the main ingredients, potato was not in it, 15£ cost the tajin you would expect a lot more it was so empty so plain, the meat was absolutely blend, no taste, 3 half slices of carrot and lictualy 5 g of caramelised onion. I have to say it looked so sad, watery as the basboussa, just oil basically which while typing I can still taste the oil. For that price you would expect way more, just way much more, felt really like a scam.
I spent around 40£, everything I said here I said it twice to them in front of them faces so is nothing to hide, be very careful when you order in this type of restaurants, food can be very different.
In resume very disappointed, I was very excited but everything went down the drain as soon as I started tasting the food in general, good bread I do have to say and nice olives.
Definitely not coming back and not recommending this place to anyone.
Thank you for the service I am happy to save few souls from...

Read moreDrove from Stafford for a celebratory meal. The food arrived for my fellow diners except my daughters starter and my meal. After about 5 mins of waiting I prompted table staff to bring these items. My daughters starter arrived but no meal for me. I prompted again and waited. Again, it didn't arrive. I prompted once more and again it didn't arrive. By this time my fellow diners had finished eating. I spoke to a different member of staff who then spoke to the manager to take my meal off the bill. He did this and she returned to state that my meal was knocked off the bill and he had taken some more money off the bill as a good will gesture. The total bill was £51.97 he knocked it down to £40. This felt very insulting quite honestly. I had ordered a cold mezze which was about £9.50 and it didn't even need to be cooked just assembled! When we went to the till point to pay the bill, he smugly stated he had reduced the price of the bill. I wasn't happy and replied that this wasn't really good enough considering I was leaving the restaurant having had nothing to eat! Instead of apologising, he then asked why didn't I ask a member of staff to bring the meal out. I shouldn't need to, but I did three times! He then proceeded to ask me which member of staff this was. I refused to tell him as I felt this was awkward and unprofessional. The fact that he didn't even come to the table to apologise just speaks volumes! He then said he would get me something to takeaway on the house. A bit too late for that now! He then knocked another fiver from the bill! Disgusting way to treat a loyal customer who has been coming...
