Don Tacos — Restaurant in Birmingham

If I could give a place a minus 5 it would be this place, the lack of professionalism and customer service was astonishing. Firstly a place that has an additional upstairs seating and is still making customers wait 20-25 mins for a table is mind blowing. They had at least 2 groups of 4-5 people waiting when they had an additional upstairs seating area which they could have used but just chose not to. Secondly; the lack of professionalism from the staff members was shocking. The waiter without checking our orders with us after being told the order 4 times; got it wrong. Gave us food which 4 of us didn’t order. And then suggested we pay for the food we didn’t order as well as the food we wanted originally- as in his opinion “we were the ones wasting the food” no remorse or apology for getting the order wrong in the first place. After being told we received the wrong food he lied to say the food we wanted wasn’t even on their menu; to which we correct him and showed him his own menu and what’s on it. To then suggesting we just hush and eat the food we are given after we were already charged for the food. For a place that lacks so much professionalism, they have no leg to stand on to be charging customers before even giving them their food. Not worth a penny. If you want don tacos- go Manchester! They are lovely there and amazing food too. This Birmingham one has really let down the franchise. Ps: kitchen staff think it’s appropriate to be joking and laughing around with each other in front of customers about how we now have got to wait 30 mins + for the food we had ordered 15 mins ago as well as waiting nearly 40 mins for a table. This was my second visit here on 3.1.23 and the first for My hubby & two sons 10 & 6 & it did not disappoint!🤩 the service was on point from the moment we walked in - our waiter was attentive & helpful & had a smile on his face from start to end - he assisted us on what we could order for my boys due to some dietary restrictions which were the perfect choice…

we ordered nachos for starters which were so good (we regretted not ordering two portions😅) & the chicken birria tacos, carne habanero (beef mixed grill), rice & chicken bowl & a mini quesadilla as mains...every single dish was cooked to perfection & hit the spot - our boys rarely clear their plates when out, yet they happily finished every last bit of their meal at Don Tacos! I can’t usually take spicy food🔥 and will always choose mild options when dining out, but despite the meals being hot🔥 here I thoroughly enjoy it as every bite is packed full of flavour which I love! My mouth is watering as I type up this review🤤 Mexican food is one of my most fave cuisines & Don Tacos is as authentic as it gets - it makes me so happy to know that we have one in Bham as amazing food places are usually too far away from us or hard to find locally x

We came out for my husbands birthday meal who loves Mexican food! We were greeted by a young girl who was very friendly. We were assigned a table after a short wait, please understand that the dining area is small so once everyone started arriving in their droves it can very quickly feel claustrophobic, this was a Friday night so it’s expected that service may be a tad slow.

Food: The open kitchen is a nice touch as you can see your food being made fresh. We ordered a varied range of dishes from starters to mains. Our favourite dish was the pulled lamb Enchiladas.The tacos were absolutely spot on and the meat eater burritos finished us off. We came with a big appetite by the end we were enduring a food coma. Also to add the churros were devine!

Customer Service: The manager was very attentive and albeit there was a lot going on he always checked to see if we needed anything else and to see if we were happy with our food which we were. He is an asset to the restaurant, he is passionate in what he does and that goes a long way.

We will happily return over the festive holidays as the food is as authentic as can be which is flavoursome and the portions are just right.
