Baldwin Arms — Restaurant in Birmingham

The Baldwin..this hasn't got patch on Emmerdale!!!!

Well this local pub could be busy and a great community pub for family's and local drinkers.. Poeple wonder why these pubs are closing. Considering the hungry horse chain is backed by green king.

Well here goes on a great review?????

1 a manager that walks around in PJ's and matching slippers.the dress code that hungry horse states on there management programmes??? How can a manager of any job lead a team in there PJ's.never mind customers???

Why does the Baldwin have no ice???as I understand this is a general requirement of a public house.

3.chippped glasses.i don't drink out of chipped glasses at home.as a customer when paying for a drink. A good glass would be nice.i even asked the staff to change it.there response was of shock.

Please be aware closing times can change at anytime .due to what the management feels like.i walked in on a Saturday night 10.50pm.they where doing last orders.i checked the website and it said 12pm and 20mins drinking up time.not 10.50pm and 10 mins drinking up time.sad to say this is never the case.if staff paid as much attention to there work as there phones.maybe this would help.

5.staff smoking outside the front of the pub and when returning back to the bar.not washing there hands.

5.when I said why this was happening staff very openly replayed the general manager is leaving in three weeks and the pub isn't making money.

6.it made a change when I went to the toilet not be walking in human wee. Well done for cleaning the floor.

It would be nice to enter this pub. With clean tables and not empty glasses everywhere.i could understand if it was four deep are the bar.

I asked for a call back from the general manager or area manager.which never has happened.

The management programme for hungry horse must of been organised be Emmerdale writters or Mrs brown's boy's.if the customer service is failing at least you can have a laugh with the local that are left to drink.in this failing pub.

Recently refurbished again we thought we would try the food again, big mistake! We started off by ordering a child's fish goujons as our 2 year old was hungry which would give us time for us to chose our meals. When the fish goujons arrived I cut into raw fish and told the staff member (cannot call them a waiter) that it was raw and he picked it up and said I'll take it back to the kitchen..... No sorry...no we will get you a replacement... no we were just left assuming we would have a replacement. 10 mins later a member of staff came to the table and presented us our sons food by saying "the fish dish you had sent back" !!!! Not only rude but as I responded with of course as it was raw fish.. Nothing but a blank face! We are locals and had a 40% offer......we did not use it and we will never eat there again after a long period of disappointment! Complete loss of faith in the so call kitchen cooks (again cannot call them Cheifs) but you get what you pay...

Food OK for what you pay, the wait at the bar is ridiculous and it wasn't even that busy, staff are all very young and in experienced which really shows. They have limited sauces etc to go with your meal eg they sell steaks and Burgers but do not have any mustards or alternatives to standard ketchup and mayo! Pretty poor really, the tables are generally dirty/ sticky and despite the posters on the toilet doors advertising the companies pride in keeping them clean, they're anything but, filthy cubicles,no soap and a generally wet and nasty.( That was the gents,the ladies are not so bad,but not brilliant according to my daughter). Also be warned if there's a quiz night on the volume on the pa system if WAY too high ( I am not a frump and do like a bit of volume on a good tune) enough to spoil a meal if you're not joining in. It sounds like I am slamming the place, I still go back but avoid quiz night and go in knowing...
